Detached 2 bedroom house in quiet village next to the Mar Menor with 7 cats to care for

About this assignment

Someone who can look after and give love and attention to 7 cats primarily! Looking after our home is important too, but making sure the cats are happy and given the attention they need is really important to us.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Looking after the cats is the primary responsibility. Living in the house for the duration of the time we are away. Having someone sleeping in the house and generally being around it. Our swimming pool will be looked after by someone else and the garden won't need any attention while we are away. There might be a pot plant to water but nothing major.

What are the good features of the property and location

Our home is close to many beautiful hiking locations, a wide selection of beaches and many small towns and cities very close by with a big variety of shops and restaurants. It is only 15 minutes drive from Cartagena about 20 minutes from Cabo de Palos and 45 minutes from the city of Murcia. It is about an hour from Alicante airport and 30 minutes from Murcia International airport. We added a "sunroom" onto the house a couple of years ago and this is a wonderful warm place to sit during the day in the cooler months. The house does have air conditioning units in each room that can be used as coolers or heaters. It is a very comfortable and spacious house with garden all around it. It is in a very quiet and peaceful area in a small village on the shores of the Mar Menor. 800m to the local Mar Menor beach and promenade. The village has a restaurant that is open all year round and 5 minutes walk from the house.
Our neighbours are all really lovely and on hand to support if necessary.
Aprilin this geographical area is usually lovely and sunny and warm. The region boasts 300 days sunshine per year and so blue skies and warm days is most usual.
I have a "city bicycle" with 6 gears and panniers that the house sitter can use to make some local tours on.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

The area is quite quiet outside of holiday time. April is often lovely and sunny and dry, it is one of my favourite times for hiking in the nearby coastal natural parks, such as Calblanque, or Monte Roldan near Cartagena. If you like peace and quiet, this is a lovely peaceful yet very well connected location in terms of facilities and shops. You need to have a car to have a comfortable stay at our house as it is just too far to walk to get all supplies. There are many supermarkets in nearby Los Alcazares and Cartagena, but they are far away enough to need to drive to.
