About this assignment

I'd like to welcome someone who loves cats and understands their moods. Claire and Anderson Coopurr are not lap cats but do like to be nearby. Occasionally they come near for a pet. Anderson is friendly, but Claire is kinda skittish, so you may not get a nuzzle from her. But if you do, she'll purr really loudly.

All I ask is to treat my home and belongings well and keep it clean.

No Smokers!

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

There are 2 cats, a male and female, and they sleep most of the day away in the master bedroom. Feed them twice a day and water, scoop boxes. Give them a pet now and then, have a conversation. Put out trash once a week. Clean up after yourself.

What are the good features of the property and location

You'll have access to a guest room & bathroom and the master bedroom & bathrooom, both upstairs. There is a half bath off the kitchen. It's a modest townhome in a development, but it's nicely decorated and furnished with anything you could need.

There is abundant outdoor recreation here! State and National Parks abound that offer all levels of physical activity. Utah is home to the Big 5 national parks, and the north rim of the Grand Canyon is a mere 3 hours away, as is Lake Powell. You can rent outdoor equipment or simply go for a walk on our paved trails.

To the south, Las Vegas is a 2-hour drive, with Hoover Dam and the Valley of Fire on the way.

St. George has a professional outdoor theater, art galleries, outdoor concerts, a cute downtown and ample shopping and restaurants. A nationally recognized Shakespeare Festival is an hour up the interstate in Cedar City. Two ghost towns are within an hour, and there's sites where famous Western movies were made.

My townhome is very low maintenance - no yard work. Washer & dryer plus all the usual appliances. Vacuum with a robotic vacuum. Tiny cement patio, so not much to look at there, but you'll be in the amazing red rocks within 10 minutes.

Grocery, drugstore, restaurants and other businesses are within 5 min drive. You can even take a nearby walking/biking path to the drugstore and supermarket.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

This is a 2-story house, attached to others, in a big development. 2 hours from Las Vegas airport so you'll have to rent a car if you don't drive here.

I don't have cable or satellite TV, but I do have a few streaming services. You'll be able to log into any streamers that you subscribe to.

St. George is VERY hot in the summer, around 105 degrees daytime (yes, every place has AC). However, you can drive to higher, cooler elevations as you sightsee and recreate. Winter is relatively mild with daytime temps in the 50's and some cloudy days, some rainy days. We don't get snow in St. George, but in a short drive you can be in snow.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.

Testimonials

Wonderful host, home and cat companions in St. George, Utah

I could tell this would be a great house sit after my first communications with Linda. She was very communicative, organized, and wanted to make sure I had a great house-sit experience as much as she needed the cats and her home to be cared for. The cats were well-behaved, very sweet, and it was nice to be with them for the week. Linda's home was very clean, comfortable, and in a great location to just simply be, and explore the area as desired. Great house-sit, and I would gladly accept another sit should the logistics line up.

A wonderful experience!

I stayed with Linda's cats Anderson Coopurr and Claire for a little over two weeks and they are the sweetest. They are affectionate and love to be wherever you are. I was sad to leave them. St. George is a great town with a lot to do. Linda's townhome is comfortable, clean, and in a great, safe neighborhood. She is communicative and leaves extensive instructions so you know where everything is and exactly what to do. I would go back again!
