About this assignment

We are looking for responsible individuals who are willing to come to look after our house and animals whilst we vacation. Additionally there are extensive grounds and gardens where some degree of maintenance work would be appreciated but not essential.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Maintaining the condition and cleanliness of the house along with feeding the animals and poultry. Taking country walks with the dog and undertaking any routine maintenance that may be required including keeping the swimming pool in good order.

What are the good features of the property and location

The property is a petit chateau alongside a river. It stand in the center of its domain and offers a haven of peace where you can just relax and soak up the sense of tranquillity and history with which it is cloaked. The local village has a market and cafe bar both of which operate on Friday evenings. There is a swimming pool that, weather permitting, you may wish to use. We are located in a beautiful area within easy striking distance of the Pyrenees mountains and the Garonne valley

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Although there is limited public transport (bus service) the nearest towns for shopping (Aurignac and Saint Gaudens) are more than 10 kilometres away so some form of private transport would be advantageous. There is a very good boulangerie in Saint Marcet which is slightly closer. We would request that potential house sitters arrive a couple of days ahead of our departure so that we can show you around.

Can I bring my own pets?

Yes
Restrictions: Personal pets welcome as long as they can integrate with our animals. Please note that animals are not allowed in the bedrooms and our dog is not allowed in our living accommodation (he lives in the under kitchen which is quite palatial.)

Magnificent & Magical

What an incredible work of art Chateau Floran is! Johnathan and Mary-Jo have poured their modern hearts and souls into restoring this magnificent 12th/14th-century château, and the result is a peaceful, enchanting haven. And then there’s Aladin—the magical dog! This delightful rescue pup loves his walks around the expansive riverside property and enjoys zooming around the château with his beloved toy, Ted, in tow. He shares his kingdom with his charming companions: Dolce and Gabbana, the ever-stylish bush bashing cats, and three friendly chickens—Coconut, Caramel, and Marshmallow. Johnathan and Mary-Jo are true adventurers at heart. While we were enjoying their beautiful château, they were off hiking across Portugal, conquering mountains and collecting stories from the trail. Despite their epic journey, they (and Aladin!) made us feel warmly welcomed from the very start. I wholeheartedly recommend this sit - it's truly a magnificent experience and magical in so many ways!
