About this assignment

I am English, my husband is Greek. I will be returning to the UK for Christmas and would love someone to come to look after the dogs. We have had two couples come and help in this way before, one in the winter and one in the summer.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

To feed the dogs once in the morning and once in the evening. To walk the dogs around the village each day. We'd like you to keep them company as much as possible but also understand that you'll want to be exploring the area as well.

What are the good features of the property and location

The house will be good for people who enjoy feeling a little remote.

For heating, we rely on a new log fire we had installed last winter. The fire is very effective and provides a cosy feel.

The town itself is beautiful. It's a small coastal town, with lovely independent shops, cafes and delis.

The house is old and characterful but we have bought lots of new things for it including: the washing machine, fridge, thermomix, shower, PS5, dyson hoover, and a king size bed. We're ten minutes outside of the town, so you'll need to drive, but we have a car here you can use to go out and about.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

The house looks big on the outside but feels small on the inside. It almost feels like a two bedroom flat, all on one level. The downstairs is all storage and blocked off from the upstairs. There are two small bedrooms, our bed takes up almost the entirety of our bedroom, and the other is our baby's room with a cot and a single bed. Then there's a sitting room, a kitchen, a bathroom and a sizeable balcony. This house is rural and in the tiny Greek village of Kinigou. 10 minutes drive away you have Pylos, a small town. The nearest airport is one hour away in Kalamata, flights can be difficult to find. If they are, you can fly into Athens and there is a 3-hour bus into Pylos.

Can I bring my own pets?

Yes

Testimonials

Two lovely dog, quiet house

Philippa and Georgios are young friendly couple with two adorable dog. Teddy and Ormos are easy to take care of, after you get to know them. Most of the time they relaxed at the shade. The house is cosy, close to several astonished beaches. The owner allowed us to use the car. We really need it, because the supermarket is in the next town. We had a wonderful relaxing time, we would recommend this place for everyone.
