About this assignment

A person who likes cats, doesn't smoke, is sensible and tidy. My cats are indoor/outdoor cats but like a warm body to sleep with at night.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Minding my two cats, keeping the house tidy, watering a few plants. I don't expect the pet sitter to do any other tasks around the house.

What are the good features of the property and location

My house is in a quiet location, 25 mins walk to the bus. It is on the main route into Dublin but also close to the mountains and country side with views down to the sea.
The accommodation available is a double bedroom with en suite bathoorm, kitchen, sitting room and utility room with dishwasher and washing machine. There is underfloor oil fired heating and wood burning stove. There is WiFi available, with Sky TV and Netflix. I work from home a lot 4 days a week and a sit/stand desk is situated in the corner of the sitting room for someone to work from is needed.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Ideally they would have a car, they must like cats and be prepared to share the bed with them. I have a wood burning stove so must be able to use that. The cats are very easy going and affectionate. I rent half the house to tenants who live upstairs, we share a front door which means there is someone in the house to assist should there be an issue. My two sisters live nearby and can also assist. The house is situated a short walk from Avoca Handweavers in Kilmacanogue.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.

Fantastic week in Wicklow

We spent a fantastic week in Wicklow. Jane was very nice, weeks before we discussed all the details, and we got lots of info about the area and the things to do, and we kept in touch throughout, so everything went easily. Zelia and Oreo are sweet and funny, we enjoyed their company. They hunted a lot during the day, but became bedfellows at night. The house is huge and bright with wonderful big windows and sliding doors, an absolutely beautiful view to the hills and the sea. We loved the cozy fireplace too. The area is amazing, with plenty of natural beauty to see, mountains, lakes, waterfalls, lovely countryside and other lunar landscapes. Dublin is close as well, easy to visit for sightseeing, but we loved the lots of traditional musical venues too. We are happy to go back to Wicklow anytime, and we hope Jane will visit us too. And we already miss the cats.

A peaceful home with affectionate cats

I absolutely loved this sit. The house is a beautiful, bright, and open house, filled with character and many comforts. The internet worked great and there was a TV with Netflix and Sky in the sitting room. The two cats, Oreo and Zelia, were such characters and were very easy to care for. Both of them love exploring and adventuring but are also content to lie on the couch in the evenings with you. The house is an amazingly beautiful location and looks out over Bray and little sugar loaf mountain! There are great local hikes, incredible views, and only a 15 minute drive from Bray. Jane left an abundance of information on the area and lots of support info as well. I would happily head back here to see Oreo and Zelia again ❤️
