One cute hound mix!
My wife and I moved to Washington D.C. from Nebraska in 2018. I work in Software Engineering and my wife works for a Law Firm. We love D.C. and love living near so . We enjoy board games (you'll have access to plenty in our home!) and to all the fabulous restaurants in our neighborhood.
We adopted Nora in February 2021 and are looking for someone/s to help take care of her while we go back home to visit friends and family or go on vacations.
You will need to Walk Nora 3 times per day (once when you wake up, over before dinner and once before you go to bed).
She is very nervous around kids so we ask that no one apply if you plan to sit with a child under the age of 12.
She is house trained and knows her routine. Nora spends her days lounging/napping on her favorite spot on our couch and enjoys being pet (she will be your best friend if you rub under her chin and her belly).
She will need to be fed once in the morning (after her first walk) and once in the evening (after her second walk). Otherwise, during the day, she really doesn't need anything else besides some cuddles.
Nora has separation anxiety that is managed with medication and a routine. You will need to give her medicine each morning (just a pill we put in her food) and make sure you have prepared her for your departure (she has been let out, has been fed, she has her toys, etc.). She's able to be left alone for up to 7 hours and she's used to us being gone at work during the day/going out to dinner and drinks in the evening. We have more information on how to successfully leave her alone that we can provide once we speak.
Other responsibilities will include sweeping our hardwood floors once per day (as Nora does shed ) and vacuuming the couch/chair and bathroom about once every other day to ensure we don't accumulate too much dog hair in our space.
Overall, Nora is a very well behaved dog- no biting, no food aggression, no begging, etc. She takes a bit of time to warm up to strangers but will be your bestfriend if you spend some time scratching or rubbing her.
We live in a 3 bedroom row house near Union Market. We are just a few blocks from the NOMA metro station which will give you easy public transit access to the entire city. We also have a bike share a couple blocks from our home and have easy access to electric bikes/scooters (so no need for a car!). We are surrounded by restaurants, parks, shopping and bars (all within walking distance). You will have access to our entire space, including a queen bed in the guest bedroom, walk in closet, large living room area, washer and dryer, and kitchen. We have a large desk/work space setup in our office as well if you need space to work from home and have high speed internet. Lastly, we are only a twenty minute drive from the Ronald Reagan airport.
We do not have dedicated parking in our home for guests but can easily get a visitor parking permit for you to park on our block. Also, sitters cannot bring dogs or small children with them on the sit. Any children must be > 13.
No, sorry.

Great pet owners and sweet dog
My husband and sat for Nora and cared for Jakob's home through another platform. Nora is very loving and easy to care for. The apartment is clean, comfortable and in a great location with easy Metro access. Jakob and Maddy were responsive, friendly and provided all the info needed for Nora, the apartment and the neighborhood. We hope to return.
