About this assignment

I am seeking a mature person to care for my home and garden for the entire summer. I prefer someone a little older, but a passion for gardening is the most important thing. I have testimonials from a different house-sitting site where I have found previous house-sitters. I am allergic to dogs so I cannot accept yours on the sit.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Cute, modern, 1,400 square foot (130 sm) single level home in a quiet, safe, historic neighborhood.
Within walking distance to a supermarket, pharmacy, bakery, coffee shops, bars, antique store, galleries, Lafayette Cemetery, St.
Charles Avenue, parades, cafes and restaurants galore. Two blocks away is the Mississippi River. You can see the ships from my front porch. There are quite a few flower beds to look after, but no pets. One bedroom and bathroom is available. A car is not necessary but can be useful for exploring or in the event of a hurricane. The French Quarter is 2.5 miles away and easily accessible by public transportation or Uber/Lyft.
The garden may require watering depending on how much it rains.
There will be weeds to pull, spent blooms and branches to cut pretty much every single day. It's quite tropical here and in this climate the garden can get out of control very quickly if not tended to daily. An understanding of plants is important for this housesit. Please tell me about your experience with plants and gardening. The sidewalk should be kept clean of free advertising and other debris, and the mail will need collecting. Photos and communication will be via WhatsApp, so you'll need this app. The home has high-speed Wifi and all the modern conveniences, except a TV.

Testimonials

New Orleans Garden

Missy was organized and explained her needs clearly. She showed me the different tasks and all the tools I'd need for the sit. The home was lovely and the neighborhood fun. There were many opportunities to play the tourist, plenty of places within walking distance. The job was to take care of the flower beds during the height of summer, I won't lie, it was brutally hot. But if you enjoy gardening, sightseeing in an historic city, or are a foodie or music lover, this is a perfect place. I would return in the future.
