About this assignment

We are looking for someone who loves dogs and the great outdoors. Our home is easy care all electric home that needs only light cleaning and indoor plant watering. We want someone who enjoys dog walks and the beauty of the great outdoors. Someone who enjoys walking, hiking and biking will love early October here when the fall foliage is spectacular. The summer crowds are gone and the air is clear and the temperature is mild so going out and about is a delight. We hope to find someone who will take advantage of being able to make day trips to Grand Teton National Park and Jackson Hole to soak in the great fall beauty on offer at these great destinations and around our home. Or to just enjoy snuggling by a window with a good book and watching
our magical sunrises and sunsets. Yellowstone and Grand Teton parks in autumn are not to be missed. Leaf peepers pay thousands to stay in lodges and short-term rentals at this time of the year so a housesit is a great way to enjoy this spectacular location and save money for a dog lover who loves the outdoors.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Our primary need is someone to care for our dog, Mackie. He is a mixed breed we rescued 4 years ago. He's very friendly and loves all people. He just needs twice daily feeding and a morning and late day walk (or more!). He has an indoor/outdoor dog run where he can be left for several hours. He loves to be talked to, pet, and tug-of-war playing. We have a few house plants to water as needed. We feed the birds so there are a some feeders which need to be kept filled.

What are the good features of the property and location

Our comfortable house is only a few years old and is easy care. It has a new and modern kitchen. There are three bedrooms, four baths, a finished basement with exercise equipment and great room with large screen TV. All rooms have separate heat controls. We have whole house WiFI and fast Internet to stream movies. Your car can use our attached garage. Our sitters can use our road, gravel grinder and mountain bikes. Depending on the time of the year you may enjoy fresh salad greens or tomatoes from our greenhouse. We have great neighbors who will be happy to assist in anyway should a need arise. Our location provides quick and easy access to the great tourist destinations of Grand Teton park (an hour away) and Yellowstone park (90 minutes away) and Jackson Hole (45 minutes away) where there are myriads of art galleries, restaurants, night spots and museums. Only five miles away is the town of Driggs where there are also many good restaurants as well as a large and wonderful grocery store, hardware stores, drug stores, sports and clothing stores, a great hospital, a veterinarian, auto supplies stores, library, banks, etc... In addition to the world famous scenery, autumn is a great time of the year to observe wildlife. The National Elk Refuge winters more than 5000 elk and autumn is when they migrate to the refuge. Large herds can often be seen from nearby roads. Mountain lions, foxes, and coyotes frequent the elk refuge too. Elsewhere eagles, moose and mule deer are common sights. Sand Hill Cranes and Trumpeter Swans are common.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Our dog, Mackie, is 8 years old, but still has the energy of a puppy, which means he loves exercise-walks and playtime. He's 60 pounds of fun. He walks comfortably while on lease, but he is strong enough to knock someone off balance if he reacts unexpectedly to something, so he might not be ideal for a small person to walk unless they are accustomed to walking medium or large dogs..

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.
