Seeking a birdie babysitter starting March 5th, 2026 to April 9th, 2026 The main responsibilities include watering green house plants approximately once weekly and feeding and interacting with our yellow naped Amazon parrot, Big Bird. We live in an architect designed custom active and passive solar home in the foothills 30 minutes west of Boulder, 10 minutes from the picturesque town of Nederland, 20 minutes from a ski area, and are surrounded by hiking trails, mountain views, and plenty of outdoor sports activities. This is a great opportunity if you are a skier and especially if you have an IKON pass. We are only 9 miles and 20 minutes from the Eldora Mountain Ski Area, and within easy driving distance from Copper Mountain and Winter Park. What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Main responsibilities include feeding Big Bird usually during the morning in his aviary within the greenhouse. We usually bring him out in the evening where he can watch TV and interact with us. Greenhouse plants can usually be watered once a week. We have a detailed "housesitter's guide" that describes the house and the responsibilities.

What are the good features of the property and location

We are surrounded by forest and mountains. Our home sits on just under 3 acres and is peaceful, quiet and frequently visited by wildlife including deer, elk and moose. The house is designed as a passive solar house with a large greenhouse that warms it during sunny days. The house is super insulated.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Sitters should consider whether they are looking for a mountain early spring experience. This is an excellent opportunity for skiers, especially if they have an IKON pass. We are only 20 minutes from the Eldora ski area that accepts the IKON pass, and reasonable driving distance to Winter Park and Cooper Mountain who also honor the IKON pass..
