About this assignment
Responsible person(s) to water and look after my place and the plants (flowers and edibles) on my rooftop garden in Shinjuku in central Tokyo.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
During the summer, the plants will need a morning and often and evening watering, which will take about 20 minutes each time. (If you want to travel for a few days, I have back-up for water I can call on.)
What are the good features of the property and location
Spacious and comfortable, it is a five minute walk from Waseda University and a ten minute walk to Kagurazaka, an area famous for excellent food and rich cultural/literary history.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
It is on the fifth (US)/fourth (Europe) floor, and there is no elevator. Tokyo summers are hot, so you should be someone who appreciates that kind of weather (A/C in all rooms.)
Can I bring my own pets?
Yes
Restrictions: Cats.

We spent a wonderful summertime in Tokyo, staying 6 weeks at Andrew’s apartment in Waseda, a really lovely neighborhood. His spacious apartment, which offers all amenities needed, is a peaceful place, comfortable and cosy, nicely decorated with beautiful art on the walls. The stairs to the upper floor lead onto a large private rooftop deck, which offers an amazing view over the area, and is equipped with garden furnitures and lots of plants - a lovely green oasis to chill and relax. We felt at home right away. Communication with Andrew was always friendly, easy and reliable. We had several hours overlap the day of our arrival to go over things, where Andrew even took his time to show us around in the neighborhood, which was much appreciated. We received detailed informations and easy to follow instructions that were very helpful for us to take good care of his precious home and extensive roof garden. Besides watering and nurturing the plants we also took care of his little fishes that live in a micro-pond on the rooftop deck. We are very grateful for Andrew’s generous hospitality and would come back with great pleasure.
