About this assignment

Ideally, we are looking for a single person or couple who enjoys living in a relaxing and tranquil setting, birdsong being the main noise! We are looking for someone who is reliable, caring, dog loving, tidy, responsible, respectful and communicative. We travel regularly, so we are well acquainted with accommodating housesitters and the requirements we strive to provide in order to make any housesit as easy and comfortable as possible.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Most importantly, taking care of three dogs and our home. Minimal yard work is required such as watering a few outdoor potted plants, and during summer refilling and maintenance of humming bird feeders as they visit in abundance and are delightful to have around. We employ a lawn service so grass cutting is taken care of on a regular basis.

What are the good features of the property and location

Our 1915 farmhouse home is located on one acre of land in a quiet, peaceful valley, surrounded by fields but with easy access to the nearby towns of Clinton and Oak Ridge for shopping and other requirements. Downtown Knoxville is about 35 minutes away for those who like to explore bigger cities. This is a very quiet and relaxing environment, with a wonderful front porch to sit on and watch the world go by and there are also many State Parks close at hand for those who like to hike. Norris Lake is 20 minutes from our house - rental boats and paddle boarding available for those who like to get out on the water.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Sitters will require their own transport and will have to be sufficiently active and engaged to take excellent care of our three dogs and our home. The dogs have a fenced in area of yard and access to and from the house via a dog door, therefore they are fairly self-sufficient, i.e. sitters are not required to take them out regularly during the day. We take them for a 20 minute walk each morning to explore the world beyond their fence, therefore minimal exercise required. We have two greyhounds and a Brittany Spaniel and contrary to popular belief, greyhounds are probably some of the laziest dogs ever, hence the reason they're known as 45mph couch potatoes! Due to the nature of our home and our dogs, we cannot accommodate children or sitters who travel with their own pets.
