We're looking for someone (or a couple) who is responsible, kind-hearted, and enjoys the company of animals and nature. Our home is peaceful, off-grid, and a little rustic at times, so a flexible, proactive mindset is appreciated—someone who’s comfortable with simple living and happy to follow our routines for the animals, garden, and systems.
Our dogs are sweet and independent, but they love attention and consistency. We'd love someone who genuinely enjoys spending time with animals, doesn't mind getting their hands a little dirty, and can appreciate the charm of rural life.
It’s important to us that our sitters communicate well, ask questions when unsure, and treat our home with care. We’ll make sure you’re well-prepared before we go, and we’re always just a message away if anything comes up.
This is a great fit for someone looking to unplug (while still having fast internet!) and enjoy a quiet, grounded experience in nature.
The main responsibilities are caring for our three dogs (Ubba, Koko, and Poco), our chickens, and keeping an eye on the basic systems of our off-grid home. Here's what that involves:
Feeding and caring for the dogs: Keeping their food and water bowls full, bringing their beds inside at night, and giving them some love and attention. They mostly stay outdoors during the day and sleep inside the foyer at night.
Feeding the chickens: We recently added chickens to the family! They’ll need food, fresh water, and daily checks to ensure they’re safe and comfortable. We'll provide detailed instructions.
Checking the solar battery water levels: This is a quick daily check to make sure the system is running smoothly.
Using water consciously: We’re spring-fed and use a gray water system, so it’s important to only use biodegradable soaps and be mindful of what goes down the drain.
Watering houseplants: Weekly check-ins on indoor plants.
Occasional outdoor watering: Give a little love to the plants around the house and orchard when needed.
We’ll go over everything with you in person the morning before we leave and leave a full guide to refer to while we're gone.
Our masía is set on 4.5 hectares of peaceful, terraced land in the hills outside Lucena del Cid, Castellón. It’s a quiet, off-grid home surrounded by nature—perfect for someone looking to slow down and enjoy a more grounded lifestyle.
Some of the things that make this place special:
Natural spring water – we’re lucky to have our own spring on the land, which provides water for the house and garden.
Solar power – the house runs on solar energy, and it’s set up to support everyday needs like internet, lights, fridge, laptops, and phones.
Reliable high-speed internet – so you can work remotely, stream, or stay connected while still being off-grid.
Dedicated work space – upstairs you'll find a comfortable desk equipped with an external monitor, keyboard, and mouse, ideal for remote work or creative projects.
Beautiful views and sounds of nature – in the evenings you’ll often hear toads singing, and during the day it's birdsong, rustling trees, and peace.
Proximity to charming towns – both Lucena del Cid and Atzeneta del Maestrat are about 30 minutes away by car (a bit less if you’re comfortable with mountain roads). They offer supermarkets, local bakeries, cafés, and weekly markets.
Great hiking and swimming nearby – there are gorgeous river spots and mountain trails to explore just a short drive away.
A cozy, welcoming home with thoughtful touches, good energy, and three sweet dogs to keep you company.
If you're looking for a peaceful retreat where you can connect with animals, nature, and yourself—this might be just the place.
Living here is peaceful and beautiful, but it’s also a bit rustic and best suited to someone who’s comfortable with a slower, more intentional rhythm of life. Here are a few things to keep in mind:
We’re off-grid, so while we have the essentials—electricity, hot water, Wi-Fi—you’ll need to be mindful about energy and water use. It’s not difficult, just part of the flow of living close to the land.
The road to the house is rough, especially if you’re not in a high-clearance vehicle. Normally you can drive up to the house, but after heavy rain (highly unlikely in spring and fall), you may need to park at the entrance to the property and walk about 15 minutes up. That’s unlikely during summer, but still good to know!
Animal care is essential—our three dogs and our chickens need daily feeding, fresh water, and a bit of love. The dogs are independent and easygoing but thrive with some attention and a consistent routine.
We use a compost toilet and gray water system, so sitters should be comfortable with eco-living systems and respectful of what goes down the drain.
You’ll need your own car to get here and to make runs into town. There’s no public transportation to the house, and the towns are about 30 minutes away.
The setting is remote, so it’s ideal for someone who enjoys solitude, nature, and quiet evenings under the stars.
We’ll walk you through everything before we leave and are always available if you have questions while we're away. If you're someone who enjoys animals, nature, and peaceful off-grid living, we think you’ll feel right at home.

Restrictions: We’re open to sitters bringing a dog, but only if they’re non-territorial, well-socialized, and used to being around other dogs. Our three dogs are sweet but have their own dynamic, so introducing another dog can be a bit of an adjustment. If you’re consi
