Two adorable cats need care while owners are on vacation

About this assignment

We are going on vacation for 4 weeks, and are looking for a conscientious, reliable and loving caretaker for our two cats. They need to be fed twice daily, and require a clean litter box every day. The tabby, Bacall, loves to play and snuggle. She’s also a bit of an escape artist, so keeping her indoors is a priority. Bacall has a brother, a Tuxedo cat, Bogie. He is quite shy, and tends to hide under the bed a lot till you’ve earned his trust.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Care of the cats is the priority. We would also like our house sitter to water the plants (explicit directions will be provided). Other than these two items, your time will be free.

What are the good features of the property and location

We are located in a 55+ community that has a gym, pool, hot tub, and other amenities. Our house is new (Fall 2024), and has a spacious living room with cable TV and multiple streaming subscriptions. There is a covered patio in back that offers a great place to relax, listening to a soothing fountain.

There is a separate guest room with a spacious walk in closet and its own en suite bathroom. The chef’s kitchen offers opportunities to create your culinary masterpieces as you desire. Indoor laundry facilities are available.

We are conveniently located an hour from San Francisco and Sacramento, and a few hours from the Gold Rush Country, Yosemite National Park and Lake Tahoe.

A housekeeper comes every two weeks to keep the house clean.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

We will be gone April 21,2026 to May 17, 2026, so this would require someone who is comfortable with an extended-time commitment. The weather during this time period will be gloriously mild, making it a perfect time to explore the surrounding areas.
