About this assignment
We are looking for a reliable, trustworthy and caring house sitter to look after our home and animals 24-31 August in Mallorca.
Ideally, you will have some experience with animals - particularly dogs and donkeys or other equines - although our two donkeys are very friendly and easy to care for. The most important qualities for us are responsibility, consistency and a genuine love of animals.
You should feel confident managing a rural home and committed to keep everything secure, clean and well cared for. We are looking for someone who will treat our home with respect, as if it was their own and who communicates well so we have peace of mind while we are away.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
The main responsibilities are caring for our two friendly dogs and two small Balearic donkeys as well as looking after the house.
The dogs need feeding twice a day and daily walk (early morning and/or evening during the summer heat). One of the dogs has mild separation anxiety, so they happiest when someone is around for most of the day. they can be left in the secure garden for 2-3 hours but preferably not during the hottest part of the day.
The donkeys are easy to care for and simply need feeding twice a day and fresh water.
Other then that it's just keeping the house tidy, watering plants and enjoying the pool and the stay in our peaceful rural home.
What are the good features of the property and location
Our home is located in a peaceful and quiet rural setting, just 5km from the beautiful town of Pollenca in the north of the island, in close proximity of beautiful beaches.
It's an ideal place for someone looking to relax, enjoy nature and experience the calm side of Mallorca. Shops, restaurants and amenities are all within a short 10km drive away.
A car (manual) will be provided for your convenience, making it easy to access everything you need.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
Applicants must hold a valid driving licence and be over 25 years old for insurance purposes, as the use of car is necessary for this stay and will be provided.
This position would best suit someone who is comfortable staying in a rural and quiet location and is confident taking responsibility for both animals and property.

We have really enjoyed pet sitting for Renata & Gary, the communication was excellent and clear right from the start. Their dogs are lots of fun. Daisy and Freya, once they get to know you, will literally follow you around the house like puppies. Just make sure to lock up Daisy if you want to jump in the swimming pool, otherwise she will never stop barking at you because of the great injustice that you're in the water and she isn't. She loves swimming and water in general! The donkeys out in the garden were super curious and very cuddly, each with his own personality. They keep to themselves, very low maintenance. But they will surely let you know when it's meal time. The house itself is amazing, spacious and airy. Even in the high summer, it was very comfy. The location makes it very hard to walk to any shop or restaurant, but if you're okay having to drive everywhere, it's great. The coast is very close, with several nice beach areas and lots of nice places for foodies. Highly recommended.

Highly recommended house sit
I went to look after Renata and Gary’s house , dogs and donkeys for one week in May 2025, and it was a great experience. Both Renata and Gary are warm and generous people, and were very accommodating for the time that I spent at their home. They were excellent at communicating before and during the sit, and left detailed instructions for the care of their house and animals. The dogs, Freah and Daisy, are described as ‘needy’ , however are relatively easy to handle once you understand their characters. I found them to be great company, and thoroughly enjoyed walking with them every day. The donkeys, Ote and Sancho, are friendly and relatively straightforward to look after. Sancho is always up for a bit of a contact, Ote less so but still likes his ears stroked now and again.He’s also a bit more vocal than Sancho. Again, like, the dogs, I found it an enjoyable experience to be around them. Renata and Gary’s home is very comfortable, and if the opportunity arises I would highly recommend house sitting for them.
