About this assignment

Someone clean and tidy who will treat my home with respect

A genuine cat lover who’s happy to keep my cat company – he loves snoozing on laps and being nearby

You're welcome to work from my house – there’s a comfortable office area with good Wi-Fi and natural light

I'd like to have a short video call with you before confirming the sit so we can meet and chat

Please send me photo and message updates about my cat every couple of days during the sit

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Keep the house clean and tidy throughout the stay

Water indoor and outdoor plants as needed

Look after my cat, including:

Feeding 2–3 times a day (he’s flexible if you’re out for the day)

Washing his food bowls when they get dirty

Keeping his water and dry food topped up

Scooping and maintaining the litter tray regularly

What are the good features of the property and location

Located in a quiet, friendly neighborhood with easy access to public transport and local shops

Comfortable, cozy home with a fully equipped kitchen and Wi-Fi

Ideal for remote working – includes a dedicated office space

If you enjoy exploring, there are some fantastic places nearby:

York, Durham, and Newcastle – all accessible by train

The Lake District – great for scenic walks and charming towns, some as close as an hour’s drive away

Yorkshire Dales – beautiful countryside perfect for cycling or walks closer to my home

Coastal towns like Whitby, Staithes, and Saltburn – wonderful fish and chips and fresh sea air

Alnwick in Northumberland – a lovely day trip option which can be reached on the train or by car

Local parks and walking trails – including West Park, Broken Scar, and Low Coniscliffe, all walkable from the house

Darlington also has some fantastic restaurants – I’m happy to share my personal favourites!

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

My cat is easygoing but benefits from companionship – someone who won’t be out for long stretches each day would be ideal

While he’s generally low-maintenance, attention to his feeding and litter habits is important

This is a non-smoking home
