About this assignment

Someone who obviously loves animals, is responsible, respectful of the pets and the house, and easy to communicate with. We are looking for someone who is independent enough to make their own decisions, but knows when to contact us to discuss. But also someone who enjoys exploring new surroundings. We will be happy to help.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Walk the dog, feed the pets and give them love and care. The cats' bathroom is the great outdoors:-) so there is no litter box to clean, they come and go as they please. We take the dog on 15-20 minute walks around 4 times a day. He can stay home by himself up to 6/7 hours.
Also, look after the house, keep it clean.

What are the good features of the property and location

We live in the suburban town of Hoofddorp, close to the beautiful cities of Amsterdam and Haarlem. Hoofddorp itself has everything, such as shops, bars and restaurants and a cinema. There is great public transport connecting you to Amsterdam and Haarlem within the hour, but other great cities such as The Hague and Rotterdam are easy to travel to as well.

We have a small garden (approx 40 m2) which is really nice to sit in. We live close to a small lake with a natural area that is great for swimming, cycling and nice walks (with or without the dog). We can provide bicycles. Also we have lots of books (English, French and Dutch) and several instruments (piano and guitars).

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Our house is well connected to major cities by public transport and inside our town you can easily get around by bicycle (which we can provide), but you may sometimes find it inconvenient to not have a car in front of the house.

We live in a residential area so we have neighbours to consider (although we get on very well with all of them).

During the two weeks that we will be away, one of our daughters will be back for two days to pack for another trip.
