We are looking for a responsible, tidy, and caring individual or couple who loves animals—particularly rabbits—and who will treat our home with respect. Someone who has experience with small pets or is willing to learn is ideal. We would prefer a non-smoker and someone who will be home frequently enough to give our rabbit, Mia, some regular companionship and attention throughout the day. Because our roommate comes and goes, it’s important that the house sitter can take full responsibility for Mia’s care while we're away. Bonus if you are decent at keeping house plants alive.
Rabbit care: Bring Mia inside each morning from her garage enclosure and ensure she has constant access to fresh water and hay. Let her free-roam in the house during the day and return her to her cage if you're going to be out for more than two hours. Clean her litter box and cage every 3–4 days (simple process).
House plants: Water our many houseplants approximately every 9–10 days.
Lawn mowing: In early fall, the lawn may need to be mowed occasionally.
General upkeep: Keep the house clean and secure; bring in the mail if needed; be respectful of the shared space with our roommate.
Our cozy, well-kept 3-bedroom, 2.5-bathroom home is in a quiet Mount Vernon neighborhood with lovely walking trails and parks. You’ll have a comfortable guest bedroom with a queen bed and your own full bathroom. We’re close to stunning outdoor areas like the North Cascades National Park and the San Juan Islands. You can easily take day trips to Seattle or Vancouver, BC, and our local town boasts a farmers market, great coffee shops, and performing arts venues like McIntyre Hall and the Lincoln Theater.
The home also includes WiFi, laundry, board games, and multiple streaming services for relaxing evenings.
You must be comfortable caring for a rabbit, including litter cleaning and daily indoor/outdoor transitions.
Our roommate will occasionally be home, so being comfortable sharing a home with another person (in separate bedrooms/bathrooms) is essential.
A car is helpful, though not strictly necessary if you’re comfortable biking or using public transportation.
Since Mia can’t be left unattended outside her cage for long, this is a great opportunity for someone who works remotely or prefers staying home often. That said, she can be left in her cage for an overnight trip or any day trip if you are looking to occasionally explore the wonders of the PNW.
The fall weather can vary, so plan to dress in layers and possibly mow the lawn a few times.
No, sorry.
