About this assignment

We are looking for a responsible, reliable person or couple to look after our five cats, gentle young German Shepherd and take care of our beautiful country farm house.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

The main responsibility is the care and well being of our pets, including our fish.
It would be very much appreciated if you could keep the garden and vegetable patch watered for us and generally keeping the areas you use clean and tidy.

What are the good features of the property and location

We are on the edge of a village in a quiet location, although Tomiño is only a five minute drive by car, ten minutes by bike where you will find, two supermarkets, covered market selling vegetables, fruit, freshly baked bread, meat and freshly caught fish, a weekly outdoor market, bars and restaurants.
Our house sits in 5000m2 of land and at the bottom of the paddock there is a brook with a natural plunge pool, ideal in the hot summer months. Our sitter will have their own cottage with bathroom, living room and bedroom and use of a large farm house style kitchen.
We have WiFi.
We have plenty of off street parking, easy access for larger vehicles such as motor homes or camper vans.
This is an amazing area to explore. The Rias Baixas is known for it´s micro climate and famous for its Albariño wine.
We are five minutes from the river Miño which borders with Portugal. The river has lovely sandy beaches and it´s possible to swim in some areas, has beautiful river walks and riverside restaurant bars serving tapas.
Crossing into Portugal gives a completely different experience of another country with it´s people, architecture and culture. Well worth a visit are the weekly markets in Valença and Vila Nova Cerveira.
The Atlantic Ocean is around twenty minutes away, either following the river to La Guardia where it opens out into the ocean or following the mountain road from our house, dropping down into the historic town of Baiona. A bustling seaside town with beautiful sandy beaches, perfect swimming conditions, plenty of restaurants and shops. From Baiona is a lovely coastal run to La Guardia, passing through Oia, an ancient fishing village, boasting a huge monastry on the sea front. Great restaurants here too.
The roads are lovely and quiet for cycling and there is a choice of mountain routes or flatter ways.
And it´s also possible to walk from the village into the monte following mountain tracks immersing oneself in everything nature has to offer.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

You enjoy the peace and quiet of the countryside.
Our German Shepherd, Lusi, has a disability in her front leg which hinders her walking. She loves going out on short walks and loves the car. She is a rescue dog, loves humans but can be reactive with other dogs. We have a large field to exercise her in.
She has the freedom of the finca but when you go out she stays in the courtyard and kitchen.
Having your own transport is an advantage, but we do have bikes we are happy for you to use.
We are new to this site, and do not have any testimonials, but Jenny, who has sat for us five times, is happy for anyone to contact her on whatsap. Her number is 0033 768433995.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.
