About this assignment
We're looking for someone to keep the house occupied, the plants watered, and the lights on/off. Someone who will do some light housekeeping (dust and vacuum, grocery shopping for when we come back, bathroom cleaned, that type of thing). A responsible individual or couple who will keep an eye on the house and yard, especially around the 4th of July, when fireworks may cause a fire in the dry yard.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
We'd like for the sitter to keep the plants watered inside and out, have the fridge filled for when we return, trash put outside on Mondays, and mail checked. If you are a beekeeper, you'd be perfect, because there are a few hives in the yard, but it's not a hard requirement.
What are the good features of the property and location
Our house is on a hillside with a big private yard, just one block from downtown. There’s a Farmers Market on Saturdays, a beautiful new art gallery, and plenty of places to eat. There are multiple great parks nearby for hiking and biking, and brewpubs and wineries to enjoy. The sun is out, it's California!
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
Our house is not very wheelchair-friendly since it is on a hillside. Wildlife sightings are common (skunks, raccoons, deer). California can be hot in the summer. There are four beehives on the side of the (very large) yard.
Can I bring my own pets?

A Very Enjoyable Stay and the Best Hosts!
The 5-week stay at Bart and Marieke’s home in Morgan Hill, CA was very pleasant and smooth. From the very beginning, communication, agreements and instructions were excellent and clear. They had a detailed printed manual and we also got an in-person instruction tour by Bart when we arrived. Additionally, they were reachable during their time away and had also provided local back-up contacts. Their home is very centrally located yet, it has a “tucked away” feel to it given its lovely nature setting. We truly enjoyed the back patio and the trees, perfect for our yoga practice and outdoor meals. The property is very spacious and the 4 beehives were set to one side and did not impact our stay at all. The house was very clean, neatly organized and had a well set up kitchen with an induction stove. It was easy to maintain and also had some indoor and outdoor plants to water. The July weather had hot afternoons so we appreciated that the house stayed cool and comfortable. Bart and Marieke are everything you’d wish for in hosts—kind, warm, practical and communicative. We really appreciate the sincerity and the mutual trust. We felt very welcome in their home. Bart and Marieke, thank you so much for entrusting us with the care for your home.
