House Sitting in Barberton, Mpumalanga, South Africa

About this assignment

I am looking for a mature house sitter, single or couple. Probably retired or working remotely as I travel for periods of a month or more. I will be away from 19th August returning on 22nd October but the sitter/s can arrive a few days before and/or leave a few days after those dates if they wish. They would stay in the guest cottage pictured.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

The sitter/s would need to be at home on Wednesdays to allow access to the gardener. Aside from that just keep their accommodation in the guest cottage clean and tidy. There are no pets to look after.

What are the good features of the property and location

Barberton is situated at the foot of the beautiful Makhonjwa Mountain Range. It is a site of particular interest to geologists having the oldest rocks on the planet. Wildlife reserves are within easy driving distance. Kruger National Park is possible to visit for the day. The property is situated within easy walking distance to the centre of Barberton with supermarkets and restaurants.

In season the trees in the garden produce avocados, mangoes and marulas.

The property is protected by a wall with electric fence and electric gate. There is an alarm which is connected to the local security company.

The nearest airport is Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport also known as Nelspruit Mbombela Airport.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Barberton is lovely and relaxed small town but as is the case in the rest of South Africa you do have to take security precautions.
South Africa does have power outages at times so it is something to consider if you are working remotely. Aside from power outages the wifi is good.
