Rural single-storey home but not remote, near Carcassonne in South France

About this assignment

We are looking for a person or a couple who love the countryside and nature, and who will look after our house and plants, garden and pool with care.
Someone who will keep in contact with us about any issues that crop up and be able to handle any reasonable eventuality without issue would be ideal.
A transport of some kind is essential due to the rural situation.
The only pets to be looked after are our pond goldfish. We sadly lost our beloved cat earlier this year.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

My house-sitter will be looking after the house, garden, house-plants, pool and fishpond with its fish.
They will need to be able -
- to mow the lawn using a fuel-powered motorised lawnmower and do general tidying in the garden.
- to test the pool water for pH and chlorine and add the appropriate additives and chlorine. The pool has a cleaning robot which will need "plugging" in from time to time when it becomes detached.
- to water plants as needed.
-to keep the house tidy and clean
- be prepare the house and patios for possible viewings via an agent as the house is for sale

What are the good features of the property and location

Very peaceful, rural and sunny. Not overlooked.
Comfortable, the single-storey south-facing house stays cool naturally in the summer and warm in the winter.

Lots of great places in the neighbourhood for walking and cycling. Only 20 minutes from the heritage city of Carcassonne, with its lakeside beach, motorway access, great shopping facilities, and an international airport.
A choice of supermarkets is only ten minutes away.
Carcassonne has a great music festival in July.
An hour from the Mediterranean Sea and not much more to Spain.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Consider whether living for a while in the countryside will suit you. A car is essential to reach supermarkets at 10 minutes distance away. There is a bakery/grocery 5 minutes away.
There is one immediate and helpful French neighbour opposite, and a hamlet just 400 metres away.
