I'm looking for someone who is comfortable in a simple home, can put my cats at ease and look after the garden and house while I'm away. You'll need to be quite self sufficient and able to arrive by car as there is no public transport. French language is a bonus but there are English speaking friends around who can help.
The main priority is taking care of the cats. They have soft food twice a day and one of them uses a litter box as she is quite old. The three younger ones are usually not much trouble but Momo will need to be watched as she leaves her food and the others eat it. So sitting with Momo and being patient while she eats, sometimes picking up the food if she wanders off and then giving to her again 15 minutes later when she decides she is hungry again! I would also like it if you could look after the garden, so watering the vegetable patch, polytunnel and flower beds once a day, and taking car of any weeding, mowing or strimming which needs to be done. The house will need to be cleaned during your stay as the cats bring in mud and leaves on their paws, so hoovering, mopping floors, washing blankets and cushions etc will be needed.
The location is very private and serene. There are hundred of birds singing and there is no other sound around. It is peace personified! It's a blissful countryside retreat where no one can see or hear you and there is no hassle. The neighbours are absolutely lovely and will help if you are in need. The beaches in Brittany are incredible and around 30 minutes away by car. The food is fresh and healthy and the air is pure.
You will need a car to be at my house, there is no public transport. I've had people try to do it by bicycle before but it's really not possible, especially if you need to take a cat to the vet. The nearest shop and cafe is a 10 minute drive away so you're really secluded. There is a wood fire which takes a while to get the hang of. I can show you how it works of course. It's not accessible for wheelchair users and the stairs can be a bit wobbly, so if you are mobility impaired or have small children it might not work for you. I can put a bed in the sitting room if you are mobility impaired and can't get upstairs to the bedroom. There is a step into the kitchen, and one into the house so it's not step free. It's a quirky cottage, some places the paint needs redoing and some bits are not perfect. I'm in the process of sorting it out!
No, sorry.
