We are looking for house sitters who are comfortable with animals and living in remote tropical environments. Experience with plant care and landscaping is preferred.
Responsibilities include taking care of our dog, salt water pools, plants, fruit tree care & string trimming grass. We will train you on back-up power and internet systems.
Our location is a tropical dream retreat nestled in nature. You can walk to the shoreline to swim and snorkel. The small town of Frederiksted is 10 minutes (3 miles) away where there are scuba shops and diving, a few restaurants, and an art museum.
This location is a Caribbean dream but there are responsibilities (listed above) you must take care of as part of the exchange. There are multiple buildings on the property to keep any eye on, check to make sure there are no water leaks or issues. Temperatures range from 80-90 F. We have a lovely room with AC for you to stay in. There can be tropical storms or hurricanes in the summer. We have plans and procedures that we follow and teach our house sitters so they can be prepared.
No, sorry.
Testimonials
Green Island Living Paradise.
Corina and Ryan are an exceptional couple who generously share their passion for green living and sustainable technology, along with delicious vegan meals. This is a large, beautiful property, and the daily responsibilities are clearly written out. Whenever questions came up, communication was always quick and helpful. Sweet rescue dog Nooch was such a joy to care for! She loved joining me on our morning rounds, checking the rooms and buildings spread across this lush 19-acre property. A basic understanding of solar systems is helpful here, and I enjoyed learning more about the Tesla Powerwall setup. As someone who enjoys gardening, I appreciated the chance to help with weeding—especially tackling the invasive vines that spring up after the rains. On dry days, using the weed eater kept the areas around buildings neat and tidy. I also helped monitor the fruit trees and water the plant nursery. This property is alive with nature! From land crabs climbing walls to hermit crabs gathering in the evenings, and frogs and toads providing nightly serenades, it’s a true tropical experience. Pool care for the two saltwater pools included skimming, brushing, cleaning filters, and troubleshooting minor issues. The tropics bring both warmth and humidity, but the lovely room provided had air conditioning for cool, comfortable nights. Having access to the work truck for exploring the island and grocery runs was perfect. I truly enjoyed caring for this historic, eco-conscious property. After my initial sit, I was invited to stay longer with modified chores and helped around the resort alongside other volunteers. If you like staying active and being immersed in nature and sustainability, this is the perfect place for you!
