About this assignment

We are looking for easy-going and friendly singles, couples or families to sit our house and cat Rafiki once in a while. Good communication is important to us.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

We'd like your help to care for our lovely cat Rafiki and the house and garden while we are away.

Rafiki needs food, water and a good amount of play and cuddle time.
In the house and garden we need your help to water indoor and outdoor plants and perhaps mow the lawn (depending on length of your stay).

What are the good features of the property and location

We live in a peaceful, minimalist home with beautiful green garden (in summer) in the middle of Billund. The house is central and with short walking distances to shopping and main attractions in Billund. Even the airport is just a 50 min. walk or short bus drive away. However, you won't feel like you are right in the city center. The house is located on a quiet dead end street and bordering a creek and green walking path. In the garden we have a fire pit, trampoline, swings and slide and DIY tiny house that is used as an office at the moment. The porch is covered and perfect for enjoying meals outside, reading or exercising with view of the garden.
Billund is a smaller Danish town, but with lots of attractions near by. It's paradise for families with kids since Legoland, Lego House and Lalandia all offer lots of fun close by. If you have a car, it's also easy to visit sights in the area for the day. Our house is child-friendly with lots of toys as well, since we have a 6-year old daughter.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

You need to feel comfortable with our cat Rafiki. :-) He is sweet, but also young and very playful. We are right now in the process of finding a way for him to be outside without disturbing the neighbors' (cat), so there might be a bit of monitoring, but you can definetly leave him while you are out exploring.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.

Warm welcome, wonderful company, and the best cat birthday ever

Staying with Kathrin, Furkan, Eva, and Rafiki was an absolute joy from start to finish. They made me feel so welcomed, like I’d stumbled into their little family. Their home is cozy and full of thoughtful touches that show how kind and caring they are. Eva is a bright, wonderful kid who I loved spending time with. And then there’s Rafiki, the little panther who completely stole my heart—majestic and goofy all at once, full of personality. I miss that furry troublemaker so, so much already. Communication was easy, the tasks were relaxed, and I had plenty of freedom to find my own rhythm. The whole vibe was warm, laid-back, and genuinely caring. A standout moment was being invited to Rafiki’s cat birthday party, which Eva planned and orchestrated all by herself. Plus, the Swedish goodies they brought back, including a cardamom-cinnamon bun that I’ll never forget, were the cherry on top of a really special stay. I also got to share my sourdough starter with them, which they baked with beautifully. It felt great passing on a little love through bread. If you get the chance to stay with this lovely crew, don’t hesitate. You’ll leave with a full heart, new friends, and a massive soft spot for cats and Scandinavian pastries. Huge thanks to them all for such a memorable and caring experience and for making me feel at home. I’ll carry it with me for a long time.
