About this assignment

We’re looking for a responsible, calm and caring person or couple to take care of our dogs, cats, guinea pigs, and vegetable garden while we’re away. You should genuinely love animals, enjoy peace and nature, and feel comfortable in a quiet, remote setting. A bit of watering in the garden and lots of cuddles for the pets is all we ask!

P.S. The shown date above is an indication but flexible. Meaning we can shift 1-2 days back or forward. Just what works out with our and your agenda!

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

• Feeding and caring for our three friendly dogs, four cats, and guinea pigs;

• Giving the animals love, attention, and making sure they feel safe and relaxed;

• Watering the vegetable garden if it’s dry;

• Keeping the house clean, lived-in, and secure;

• Informing us in case of any problems or concerns

What are the good features of the property and location

Our home is located in a peaceful, rural area in eastern Slovenia, just 5 minutes from the Croatian border. We’re surrounded by forest, meadows, and birdsong — a perfect retreat for nature lovers or anyone seeking quiet and rest.

There are beautiful walks from the doorstep, lots of privacy, and no direct neighbours. We have a spacious house with good Wi-Fi, a comfortable guest room, and a large garden with a vegetable patch. It’s the ideal place to read, write, work remotely, or simply enjoy a slower rhythm.

You’ll need your own transport, as we live about 5 km from the nearest shops.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

• You’ll need your own car, as we live in a remote area with no public transport;

• Our dogs are friendly and used to people, but they do need regular attention and presence — this is not a “drop in and leave” kind of sit;

• The house is surrounded by nature, with no direct neighbours — ideal if you enjoy solitude and quiet, less suitable if you prefer a busier environment;

• August can be warm and dry, so some light daily tasks like garden watering may be needed;

• The house has air conditioning and good Wi-Fi, so it’s also a comfortable spot for remote work;

• Our animals are part of the family, so we’re looking for someone truly caring and attentive — not just someone looking for free accommodation.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.
