Mind our dog in our beautiful farm 3km from downtown Kampot, in Southern Cambodia

About this assignment

We're looking for someone to look after our dog, feed our chickens and keep our house occupied whilst we are away. You'll need to stay in the house overnight every night and most of the day as the dog can't be left alone for long periods of time. You can take her with you though. This would suit two people who work online.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Feed our dog, Whisky, morning and evening.
Prepare her food - you must be ok with handling meat
Feed the chickens in the morning.
Stay in the house and grounds most of the time so Whisky has company. You can leave her for short periods of time but please make sure you use the baby gate to prevent her getting downstairs.

What are the good features of the property and location

The house and grounds are beautiful and quiet, set next to the Saltfields about half way between Kampot town and the port. We have a slightly saltwater pond which you can swim in - it has fish in it. Our grounds are filled with fruit and coconut trees. We have bananas, passion fruit, mangos, pomegranates, limes, guava, neem, and many more we still haven't identified. You can eat any fruit in the garden except the coconuts which are still too young to fruit.
We have great views on all sides of rural Cambodia and there are multiple places to sit and watch the sunrise and sunset. Grab a hammock for a snooze or sit on the viewing platform to watch the sunset over the mountains.
The house is fully equipped with 2 bedrooms, each with an en-suite, hot shower and AC The kitchen includes a 2 gas burner, a micro oven and a microwave. We are foodies so there is everything you could need (including a pie maker)
One room is set up as a home office and we have fast internet throughout the house.
We have a washing machine on site and plenty of places to dry things but if you want to use a local laundry service we can provide details.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

We are not in Kampot town. We are about 3km away. Its a $1.50 tuk tuk using Grab or PassApp. We have a moto you are welcome to use but be aware it is a manual so you need to know how to ride. We can arrange a automatic moto for you if needed. Either way you are responsible for any damages to them.

We have a local lady who comes comes 3 times a week to clean. The Coconut plantation will be watered by the owner 3 times a week as well.

You must be willing to stay in the property the majority of the time or take our dog with you when you leave. She must stay on a lead when not in the property. Most bars and restaurants are dog friendly in town so you can take her with you and she will sit happily under the table. She is a bit wary of other dogs so please bear than in mind. There are free roaming dogs in town but she is not one of them!
Note that we don't have a fence on one side because instead there is a giant ditch. The dog does not roam so you don't need to worry about het escaping.
