About this assignment

We’re seeking a kind, responsible house sitter with a completed background check and an active social media presence to validation for safety and to care for our two calm, senior dogs while we travel for 2–3 weeks. They’re deeply bonded with us and thrive on loving human presence, so we’re looking for someone who genuinely enjoys being with dogs and can provide them with gentle attention, companionship, and comfort throughout the day.

A trusted friend who is a contractor will be visiting occasionally to do minor home repairs and install a pool fence—there’s no need to supervise him, and he’ll also help keep an eye on things.

Our home is a peaceful retreat surrounded by nature, with beautiful views, a pool, and plenty of space to relax or work remotely. We’re 30 minutes from Oceanside Beach, 40 minutes from San Diego, and close to excellent hiking trails—ideal for a relaxing getaway or working vacation for a caring animal lover.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Your main responsibility is to care for our two senior dogs and keep the house clean and tidy while you live here. You’re welcome to use the kitchen and cook your own meals. We’ll provide freshly prepared food for the dogs—home-cooked meats and vegetables that you’ll add to their meals. One of our dogs needs medication with her food every morning and evening, so it’s very important not to miss any doses.

Our irrigation system is fully automated, and there’s no yard work required. We’ll show you how to turn off the main water and irrigation if needed, but everything else is simple and set up in advance. The key is just to be present, caring, and provide a calm, loving environment for our dogs

You’ll be caring for our two sweet senior dogs, both in good health but needing daily medication to manage mild arthritis and spondylitis. They’re gentle, affectionate, and happiest with someone nearby to give them love and companionship.
