About this assignment

We are new to this site and are also on Trusted Housesitters, so our testimonials are on that site and nothing here yet as we joined on 13th August 2025.
We are looking for a mature and practical person or couple with their own car, who love nature and who love cats as well as dogs and who know how to treat them. An understanding of plants and when they need to be watered would be helpful and a good general common sense as we have a renewable energy system (which is automated).

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

To feed and take care of four cats, fill the birdfeeder on the terrace and feed two red kites who come for raw chicken. Also to water the terrace pots. When weather is very dry some small trees will also need watering, which could mean carrying 5 litre bottles across the lawn to do so.

What are the good features of the property and location

Very peaceful area surrounded by walks straight from the house and close to the beautiful Selva de Oza, about 20 minutes drive north from here. Great for hiking, river swimming in summer (the River Aragón Subordan runs along our valley) or just chilling in the house and garden. The village with shops and bars is 5 mins drive from the house. We are 35 mins drive from our nearest big town, Jaca, and 1.5 hours from Pamplona in one direction and France in another. We are 2 hours north of Zaragoza airport.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

The house is tucked away, so a single person need not be fazed by being on their own, or being surrounded by nature, or having to water in dry weather, or dealing with an automatic energy system. The house is very safe, the cats are shy but affectionate. We have views of mountains or the garden out of every window, but we are 5 minutes drive from a small friendly village which has shops, bars and a market on Wednesdays. A car is needed as the area is not served well by public transport. Would probably suit someone with at least a basic knowledge of Spanish.
The track up to our house from the road (about 200m and not suitable if you are towing a caravan, for example, but we have a normal estate car and manage easily.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.
