About this assignment

Couples only please. Strictly non-smoking, ideally some French spoken.
Own transport preferred, but if not, current valid driving license essential.
Would suit an active couple who enjoy outdoors.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Looking after and feeding our cat that mainly lives outdoors.
We keep a tidy home and would expect our house-sitters to do the same. Our sitters would have to keep a close eye on our property, especially during any cold weather. If you like gardening, there is plenty to do to get the garden ready for the winter.

What are the good features of the property and location

We are in the heart of the Perigord Noir, a truly beautiful, picturesque part of the Dordogne, with lots of walking trails; chateaux to visit; the Lascaux caves are down the road.
We are half an hour by car from Sarlat (a stunning medieval market town with a thriving cinema which show films in Original Version), and many other beautiful villages.
Our home is spacious and comfortable with all mod cons and a good internet connection.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

The weather will be starting to cool down and can get quite damp and foggy at this time of year. We have a wood burner for cozy evenings in front of the fire.
All tourist sites are open at this time of year and it is a good time to make the most of this calmer period to visit some amazing places.
You will need a car or a valid driving license, at the very least. We can offer the use of a car if necessary for which we require a returnable cash deposit in the event the car is not returned in the same condition it was provided. We are well located in terms of motorways (15 minutes from the A89, and railway links, 40 minutes to Brive la Gaillarde for links to Paris).
We would obviously need to talk face to face with any prospective sitters, and speak to referees, before making our choice, and even better, if possible, meet up beforehand.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.
