About this assignment

Please note- we are flexible with dates.

Hi! We have asked our carers to find someone to look after us when they are away! We are Jack and Chub, fostered from the Donkey Sanctuary.
We have a wonderful home which we share with Peter & Becky, Lots of rescue hens, rescue sheep, 3 dogs and 4 cats - but that is enough from us - we'll let Becky tell you more.
Hi! We are a professional couple, retired IT Project Manager and Physiotherapist, who share our fabulous home with a wonderful Menagerie of rescue animals. We need someone who is familiar with Equines, Sheep and loves animals to look after them all while we have a holiday.
Given the location, sitters will need to have their own transport and it is a sit suited to a couple/2 people. Non-smokers please.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

This is a very rough timetable of our animal feeding/cleaning agenda to give you an idea of what is involved, in between cuddling and playing with them!
Morning:

Feed house cats
Let hens out and feed
Feed barn cats , and donkeys
Muck out hen coops and donkey stable
Walk & feed dogs
Feed sheep(not during summer)

During day:
Pick up donkey poo (to stop it getting spread around and souring grass)
Check coops for eggs- enjoy!

Evening:
Set up stable and hen coops
Walk and feed dogs
Feed cats and hens
Let donks in from paddock- pick out feet
(Shut up hens when they are in bed)

What are the good features of the property and location

The house has recently had an extension and new kitchen with underfloor heating. The 300 year old lounge has a wood-burning stove which the dogs love lying in front of in the evening in winter.
We are located in an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The house is bounded by bridle paths which lead for miles across National Trust land, so there are plenty of local walks.
The village pub is 10 minutes walk. Two historic towns with shops and the usual supermarkets are within 10 minutes drive. Bournemouth, the Purbecks, Thomas Hardy country are all an easy drive away with Kingston Lacy National Trust House close by.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

This sit is ideal for those folk who love animals and the countryside whilst having an understanding of the responsibilities of looking after a small holding. See our daily timetable of responsibilities.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.
