About this assignment

We're seeking an honest, ethical, responsible person(s) that communicate well, and will respect this incredibly special place in the mountains of Costa Rica. We compost and try to be eco-friendly. We have five friendly chickens.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Tending to 5 chickens.
Once weekly duties of checking the mountain spring water source, possibly clearing leaf debris.
Twice weekly duties of checking each structure for any rain leaks/repairs and reporting any issues to us, so we may have it tended to.
Making sure the property is secure.

What are the good features of the property and location

This property has:
A clean river, swimming.
Lemon, avocado, orange, papaya trees
Organic garden
Danta, Quetzal, Armadillo, Toucanette
Its off season, but we normally have several active trout ponds. There is a network of trails through-out the property.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

This is not ideal for the mobility challenged. It's a big place with unstable terrain. To check the water system, it involves steep trail hiking.
In the mountains it can get cold at night. We have a woodstove in the house. It's helpful to know how to build a fire.
Spanish is very important here. In the mountains, there are fewer people that speak english.

This place is:
3 minutes from the village- school, community center, neighborhood
10 minutes from the town- sm. grocery, soda/cafe, yoga, highschool
20 minutes to city- grocery, city hall/municipalidad, restaurants, cafes, coffee roaster, banks, medical clinics
30 minutes to big city- everything else-banks, university, hospital
1 hr to Cartago, 2 1/2 hours to Pacific Ocean, 4 hours to Caribbean.
