About this assignment
We’d like to offer our home in Tenerife to anyone interested in discovering this beautiful island, in exchange for caring for our two beloved pets: Nelly, a 10-year-old mixed-breed dog, and Maya, our cat. Both are calm and easy to look after.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
We expect the sitter to walk our dog at least three times a day and not leave her alone in the apartment for extended periods. We live very close to the beach, so morning and evening walks are a pleasure for everyone! Maya, our cat, enjoys cuddles occasionally but is mostly independent. Cleaning her litter box every other day is sufficient, and she has an automatic feeder.
What are the good features of the property and location
La Tejita is located just 15 minutes from Tenerife South Airport. Car hire is affordable, and the bus system is also a convenient way to get around. The area is well known for watersports and is typically quite windy, but there are plenty of sheltered spots for sunbathing. The apartment building includes a communal pool and a paddle court, both with free access. There are plenty of hiking trails nearby, a grocery store just a 3-minute walk away, and the sea is only 1 minute further.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
The neighbourhood where we live is very quiet, with just a couple of bars and restaurants nearby. The closest town, El Médano, is only 2.5km away with buses running every hour.

Great hosts, sweet pets and a perfect location close to the beach
Irene and Max are fabulous hosts—very considerate and helpful. They kindly picked me up from the airport and showed me around the neighbourhood. Instructions for pet care were clear and straightforward and during their holidays they were always available via WhatsApp and happy to answer any questions. I had a wonderful time with Nelli the dog and Maia, the cute little cat. Nelli loves long walks on the beach and is even a great running buddy—obedient and very friendly with people and other dogs. Maia enjoys cuddles and snuggling up in bed. They are both absolutely adorable and a joy to look after. The house is conveniently located just a five-minute walk from the beach and the Montaña Roja natural reserve—a peaceful area perfect for long walks or a swim. There’s also a 20m long swimming pool in the complex and a supermarket as well as a taxi and a bus stop just across the street. Altogether, it’s the perfect place for outdoor and water-sports enthusiasts and animal lovers, so don’t hesitate if you get the chance to house-sit here.
