Sweet older dog in a quiet village an hour from Ottawa

We are looking for someone responsible who would enjoy spending time in our small, quiet village and taking good care of our dog and our home.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Our dog, Finnegan, is a medium-sized 14-year-old mutt who is still quite sprightly. He is fed morning and evening. He loves his morning and evening walks, especially on the trails near our home, and is happy to spend time outside with company.
We also have some indoor plants to be watered occasionally.

What are the good features of the property and location

Our home is an updated 1.5 story 19th century house within walking distance of everything in the village. We have a large unfenced yard with gardens, and many friendly neighbours.

Merrickville is a historic village on the Rideau Canal, about 60 km south of Ottawa and 100 km northeast of Kingston. The village has shops, restaurants, a community hall, veterinary office, gas station, etc, all within walking distance. It's very quaint, and attracts many visitors during the summer.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

We have a 2-story home, so climbing stairs is inevitable.
In winter, there may be some snow shoveling needed.
There is no public transit to Merrickville from Ottawa, so a vehicle would be necessary.
