Hello,
I’m planning a long trip through Europe starting in early July 2026 and am looking for a competent, trustworthy person (or people) to look after my two 12-year-old, very sweet, and low-maintenance cats, as well as my apartment, while I’m away.
My trip is open-ended—someone doesn’t have to be here the whole time; my neighbors can also take care of everything for part of the time.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

It's the usual routine: feeding them, checking their litter boxes, occasionally getting the mail from the mailbox, and keeping them entertained.
I’m generally fine with leaving them alone for a few days and having my neighbors look after them, but I don’t feel comfortable at all with them being gone for several weeks. (But if you ever need to be away for a few days yourself, my neighbors can easily step in.)

What are the good features of the property and location

The apartment is located in a somewhat quieter neighborhood in Essen. It measures 56 square meters, features a balcony with a great view, and is neat and clean. It offers good access to public transportation and bike paths, as well as a wonderful, sweeping view of the countryside and the Ruhr River. Of course, everything your heart desires and everything needed for a comfortable life is available and ready for use.
As a bonus, within sight of the balcony and just 15 meters from the water, is my trailer with an awning. It, along with a fire pit, two grills, chairs, tables, and kayaks, is available for use, and you can also swim in the Ruhr.
All in all, it’s a beautiful and wonderful place to spend time in the summer and explore the Ruhr region.
