About this assignment

Our pets are very important to us. We need to feel confident that our chosen person is comfortable and gentle with our German Shepherd Cross who is older now and requires less exercise. Please note, she is always hoping to chase the two outdoor cats that we inherited, who live downstairs - she knows she is not allowed, but... (She grew up with the other cat who lives indoors only and is the boss of her.)

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Feeding and checking clean water is available for 1 dog and three cats. Lots of cuddles for any animal that wants one and letting out/walking our dog. She can no longer manage long walks, just a km or two at the very most.

There are a few indoor plants that may need a water or two depending on how long we are away.

What are the good features of the property and location

The location is quiet and green and in a peaceful location next to the River Marne. Parallel to the river is the Canal Entre Champagne et Bourgogne with a smooth canal path, perfect for walking and cycling. There are woodland walks just over the canal.

If you love being in a natural environment this will be perfect for you. There are many springs. limestone outcrops, mossy boulders and lichen-covered trees indicating the clean air.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

We live on the first floor. You will also be staying here so our animals feel settled. The rest of the building is ours and is unoccupied.

We are 15 minutes from multiple supermarkets, but public transport is very limited here so a car is a must.

There is a railway line nearby so during daylight hours you may hear the trains hooting on exiting the tunnel - we no longer notice them ourselves.

We have no near neighbours, but the small, friendly village (no shops) is a 5 minute walk away.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.
