About this assignment

We’re looking for a kind, responsible animal lover who genuinely enjoys the quiet rhythm of country life. Someone who’s calm, dependable, and comfortable caring for a large but gentle dog and an affectionate indoor cat. You’ll need your own vehicle (or be willing to hire one) as our home sits uphill from town. We value good communication and prefer sitters who treat our home and animals as if they were their own.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Lola, our 5-year-old Mastiff X, needs feeding twice daily, a short walk or play in the yard each day, and plenty of affection. She’s calm, gentle, and happy to nap most of the day.
Minky (aka “Dingle”), our 5-year-old Sphynx cat, is strictly indoors only. He uses a robot litter box (easy maintenance!) and needs his food and water topped up regularly. He loves warmth and always sleeps in bed with our sitters. Both pets are healthy and well-behaved.
Aside from caring for them, there are no other household duties — just keep things tidy and enjoy the peaceful setting.

Our property is in Polinago, Modena, a peaceful mountain town in Emilia-Romagna. The pet sitter stays in a private, fully renovated (2023) one-bedroom apartment beside our restored 1700s stone home, with beautiful views of the Apennines. The apartment is comfortable, heated, and has Wi-Fi.
The town is 3 minutes by car (or a 25-minute uphill walk) and offers everything you need — markets, local shops, a pharmacy, and excellent trattorie serving traditional dishes like gnocco fritto and tigelle. A nearby Parmigiano-Reggiano dairy, scenic trails, and the warm, authentic atmosphere make this a truly special place to stay.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

A car is essential due to the property’s hilltop location. The apartment has internal stairs and is not suitable for anyone with mobility limitations. We’re looking for someone who will respect the privacy of the space and keep our pets’ routines consistent.
Lola is strong but well-mannered, and Minky must never be allowed outside. Both are affectionate and love human company. This sit suits someone who enjoys peace, mountain views, and the comfort of a quiet Italian village rather than the bustle of the city.
