Take care of our beautiful house & property in the portuguese countryside

About this assignment

My husband and I have just bought a farm in Portugal, in the region of Serra de São Mamede in the beautiful landscape of villages like Marvão or Castelo de Vide. Since we are having our baby in December in Germany, we can only move there in February/March.
We are now looking for a couple to take care of the farm, consisting of three houses and 10 hectars of beautiful landscape until we move in. We are hoping for a couple with some experience in housesitting and gardening.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Since we don't have animals on the farm, you can sleep in every day and use our high-speed wi-fi.
We ask our house sitters to just be present on the farm. Since the winter in the region can be cool and wet, it is important to take care of ventilating and heating all rooms. If it were also possible to take care of the regular pool cleaning, this would be nice, but it is also possible to hire a contractor to do this.
We are looking for someone who will enjoy the life in the tranquility of our farm and help us to get it over the winter time without damage.

What are the good features of the property and location

The farm and its environment are just stunningly beautiful. The 10 Hectars of land are full of beautiful plants and embedded in pure nature.
As our house sitters you can stay in a beautiful and fully-equipped apartment which is also well-heated (which is not common in the region!).
Unfortunately, we cannot offer you a car, because we ourselves have not been living on the farm until now. If this is a dealbreaker for you, please get into contact with us, because we might find a solution for that.
The next supermarket is 3km away, as well as the next town. In 20min you can drive to Portalegre which has bigger stores and hospitals.
Our farm is just a dream and if you enjoy nature, outdoor activities like hiking, visiting villages and castles etc. and enjoy being in a totally quiet environment without disturbances, you will have a wonderful time here.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

We prefer a couple, as it would certainly get very lonely on our farm. Bringing one or two well-behaved dogs would also be fine as they would sure love to run around on the land. Please note that the land is not fully fenced.
We are looking for very trustworthy and reliable people who know what they're getting into and won't let us down.
Please take into consideration that the winter in the Serra de São Mamede can be quite cold and wet! You will have it cozy inside and there will be plenty of sunny days or sunny moments on rainy/cloudy days. But the pictures I uploaded were taken during the summer and are not representative for Portugal in winter ;)

Can I bring my own pets?

Restrictions: One or two well-behaved dogs would be fine
