About this assignment

Long term stay, estimated 15-24 months. The exact period won’t be known for months. I will be overseas and need someone dependable and willing to solve issues as they arise personally or with my property manager. Prefer to be here to show sitter around before I depart, second bedroom is available upstairs for the interim. Property manager has primary responsibility for all units.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Feed/care for 14 year old Red Heeler and 17 year old medium hair cat. Mow, weed eat, spray bugs and weed killer, water, winterize, leaf removal, blow walkway. Other odds/ends as they occur which could include occasional cutting/clearing fallen branches. Coordinate with property manager and maintenance man when supplies they need are in the house which has lots of stored business items. Resolve issues with 3 long term tenants if they arise, call property manager if you can’t easily handle issue such as leaky toilet (very infrequent).

What are the good features of the property and location

Eureka Springs is a top rated vacation mountain town, regularly scheduled events and fantastic nature abound in the region including the Buffalo National River an hour away. The house is older but comfortable and intermixed with business supplies for the associated lodging units. There is a second bedroom upstairs. There is only 1 bathroom with a shower.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Although there is a trolley stop at my location having your own vehicle is greatly preferred. Long haired dog and medium haired cat both shed so if you can’t stand fur, animal smells and vacuuming you’re not right for the need. Prefer someone on location most of the time but still allows the freedom of day trips or longer if you take the dog with you and arrange for someone to feed the cat (one tenant has done that so it’s built in).

Winterizing means going under the 3 treehouses on sloped ground to turn off the water and open the drain line, place space heaters in bathrooms, plug in heat tape. Under 3 cottages, cabin and water heater closet plug in space heaters and test, turn on space heaters in laundry room and flip 2 switches to turn on space heaters and heat tape under motel and house.
