About this assignment
** If you read nothing else, READ THIS, please: **
(1) Nonsmokers only.
(2) I am Vegan, Treacle isn't. It's ok if you aren't either, but vegans and vegetarians are especially welcome. In any case, please leave NO trace of having anything other than vegan food in the flat.
** If you don't acknowledge this in your application, it's unlikely you'll be selected. **
(3) Treacle has access all areas of the flat 24x7 except the bathroom when you're using it and the balcony when it's cold. She often chooses to sleep on the bed. If she does so, feel honoured because it means she's accepted you.
** If you don't like pets sleeping on the bed, this isn't the sit for you. **
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Feed Treacle twice per day - minimum. Refresh water. Clean litter tray. Play with Treacle. Give treats. Brush her if she'll let you. Let her sleep on the bed if she wants to. Do not close doors (except the front door and balcony, of course).
I have house plants and plants on the balcony during the summer. These will need to be watered.
Keep lower bedroom window closed at all times. Same with bathroom window. Only open lower kitchen window on a slant. There are no cat nets on these windows.
If you're sitting for a while, I'll also leave a key to the letter box in the hallway of the building so that it doesn't overfill.
Keep flat as clean as possible including leaving a clean sink and removing any hair from the shower basin! Strip the bed at the end of your stay (and recover the bed with the blanket).
I am vegan. You don't have to be, but please leave no evidence of having not been vegan during your stay - including throwing out rubbish and clearing any nonvegan produce from the fridge and freezer.
What are the good features of the property and location
I live in a one-bedroom apartment with my cat, Treacle. The flat is around 50m2 with a balcony. There's a large double bed in the bedroom, ample space in the living room with dining table and seating area with large-screen TV. Shower in the bathroom. Washing machine in the small but functional kitchen.
There are supermarkets nearby and numerous takeaways + pharmacies etc. The flat is less than a 5-minute walk from the nearest underground station (U Pankstrasse) and a 10-minute walk from the nearest train station (S+U Gesundbrunnen) which has a direct connection to the airport on the FEX.
Alexanderplatz is only 15 minutes away. Easy connections to most lines and areas of the city and also regional trains.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
Treacle is an older cat and needs your love and attention. She is ok to have periods with nobody about, though, but please spend as much time with her as you can.

As before I had an absolutely wonderful time at Mike and Treacle and Dasha's place. Mike always welcomes me beautifully with a clean well organisd home and a friendly beer to catch up on the queens of the household. I consider Mike a friend now. As for the girls, they are so quirky and lovely. Treacle just makes me laugh with her cuddly belly yoga and Dasha purrs like a lawnmower even when she just looks at you. I shed a tear when I said goodbye. I can absolutely recommend this housesit, both for the lovely apartment and its inhabitants, but also the access to the most interesting city in the world. Taking care of Treacle and Dasha has been a pleasure, they’re both so sweet and affectionate. Sleeping with them was the best part. Mike was a perfect host, very attentive and always willing to help with anything. The house is really comfortable and has everything you need, including a lovely terrace, also well located with a direct line to the center of the city.

My experience with cat sitting for Mike was incredible
Where to begin, my experience with cat sitting for Mike was incredible - everything from Dasha and Treacle, the house, the contact with Mike - I really enjoyed every part of my stay and would do it again without hesitation. Mike was very welcoming and made sure I knew everything there was to know about Treacle and Dasha. Also during the stay he was very easy to reach, whenever I would have questions or doubts regarding the cats. It felt more like I took care of a friend's pets. The apartment is great, in a very central location near public transport and plenty of parks in the area to stroll around in. I enjoyed the sun on the balcony in the morning, the books Mike has on display and the all-round coziness of the place. Then, the most important part, Treacle and Dasha. They were an absolute blast to look after. Their little shenanigans, the routines they taught themselves, the politely asking for pets and attention.. writing this all down makes me realize I actually really miss them! They are such lovely cats to take care of. So Mike, thank you again for having me ☺️🌷

Mike is a wonderful host
Mike is a wonderful host and I had the best time hanging out with Treacle and Dasha! The apartment is cozy, well equipped, and has a lovely balcony that gets plenty of sun (which the kitties love). It was also super central - less than a 10 minute walk to the S bahn, 5 minutes to the U8, and steps from the beautiful Humboldthain park. Mike was communicative, welcoming, and gave me all the details I needed to take care of his girls. Treacle and Dasha are friendly, cuddly, and overall a joy to spent time with.

Mike is a friendly, welcoming and kind host. I met him the day before the sitting and he explained everything related with the apartment and the kitties. He later invited me out for dinner and we had an interesting conversation. The good communication continued throughout the sitting. Treacle and Dasha are sweet kitties and very easy to take care of. They are not too much into playing but they enjoyed some brushing and cuddling. They spent most of the time relaxing and sleeping in their favorite spots, but they also hang around and slept next to me while in bed. The apartment is comfortable and has everything you need for a pleasant stay. It's located walking distance from the well connected U Pankstraße and S+U Gesundbrunnen stations. I had a brilliant time sitting for Mike in Berlin
I had a brilliant time sitting for Mike in Berlin. The cats are absolutely gorgeous and no trouble - they did wake me up with various tricks early morning but I'm an early riser and it was funny. Mike and I had an hour before he left for his holiday and he talked me through all I needed to know about the cats and apartment carefully and made me feel welcome in his home. The apartment is a charming 1920s one and very comfortable. I had everything I needed down to the milk frother for my cappuccino. It is also incredibly located for sightseeing, which I did a lot of. Being old the apartment has a couple of quirks. Mike explained the shower was temperamental, going cold if the pressure is too high. A heads up not to be as cautious as I was, I didn't shower for a couple of days, thinking it was going cold, but in hindsight I think I'd set the pressure so low it wasn't actually heating in the first place! Anyhow, Mike is a really nice guy and this was a lovely sit, I would hesitate to recommend.

This XMas sit..... was such a pleasure
I had the privilege to be chosen for this XMas sit..... and it was such a pleasure! Mike is so easy in communication, welcoming, and Dasha and Treacle, I fell in love with them. The appartment is just perfect, location so easy, and Berlin exciting. But, my biggest joy was to spend all evenings with the 2 lovely cats, enjoying their company to the max. Treacle every night on the bed with me and Dasha purring me gently awake every morning.... I miss them already. And Mike, thanks SOO much for that really nice lunch, and your trust in me. Time flew by.... it was great!

Friendly, clear, and responsive
Mike's communication was great: friendly, clear, and responsive. The flat is in a central location, extremely convenient for both U- and S-bahn, and on a direct and fast train to the airport. The girls have very different personalities: Treacle is a sweet and easygoing powderpuff with a gorgeous face who stayed glued to my side. Dasha has a lot of opinions, the strongest of which is about when breakfast is to be served, but also has a generous and endearing purr, and enjoys a good chat. An enjoyable sit for nice cats and their nice owner.

Two wonderfully easy and really funny cats
This was my last sit for the Summer with Dasha and Treacle and it was sad to say goodbye (but I'm telling myself I'll see them next year 😜). They're two wonderfully easy and actually really funny cats. I laughed a lot at them. And Mike is the best host - communicative, welcoming, friendly and interested. I even stayed my last night there when he was home and we had a lovely catch-up. I would absolutely recommend this sit. 10/10 stars!

Such a positive experience
This was my first sit and it was such a positive experience. Mike went out of this way to make sure I was comfortable and felt right at home, even hosting me the night before and welcoming me to use anything in his flat. His kindness, generosity and trust was very appreciated and his communication about everything was great. Treacle and Dasha are sweet hearts and have the most charming personalities- it was easy to care for them and a pleasure to have their company and cuddles. I was sad to say goodbye after our 5 days together. Mike's home is great - fantastic location within walking distance to everything you could want and the flat itself is cosy and set up for maximum convenience and cosiness. I was finishing 2 big uni assignments during this sit so I spent a lot of time at the flat and it was the perfect space for me to focus and relax. Treacle and Dasha were the perfect study companions- never a distraction but always available for cuddle breaks and to keep me company.
