About this assignment
Looking for responsible and experienced pet sitter to care for our senior dog and two cats. The pets can be left alone for up to 4-6 hours at a time. Our cozy home is the perfect place to unwind, and our furry family members are low-maintenance, loving, and happy to share their space. Ideal for someone who enjoys quiet days, animal companionship, and a slower pace of life. Come enjoy the peace and charm of our small town while caring for our gentle senior dog and two friendly cats.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Our dog Pai Pai is very easy going, and loves people. He looks forward to his morning walk and will do a little dance when he sees you grab the leash. He’s a senior now and is very happy to spend his day napping on a variety of dog beds throughout the house. His early morning walk through the neighborhood should be no more than about 30 minutes, including sniff time. We try and avoid over-exciting him because he is prone to fainting (syncope) in those moments.
Pai Pai and the cats, Karma and Bamboo, get breakfast in the morning. The cats always have kibble available. Pai Pai also gets fed dinner. The cat litter boxes should be cleaned and dog waste picked up in the backyard as needed.
For sits more than a week, we have a few indoor houseplants to water.
What are the good features of the property and location
We have a spacious home in the very laid back town of Winters, California. You will stay in the guest bedroom and have an adjacent guest bathroom. You can also use the office and will have high speed internet. The kitchen is fully stocked. The large TV in the livingroom has local stations and Netflix. Security cameras include the front of house, side of house by gate, and inside garage. There are NO interior cameras.
There are good sidewalks and a nice park nearby to walk around. The area is flat but the beautiful hills of the Coastal Range are visible to the west. The town is surrounded by orchards and ranchlands. Winters has a small, core downtown with several good restaurants including Putah Creek Cafe, The Preserve, Buckhorn Steakhouse, Burger Bros., and Chuy's Taqueria. Steddy Eddys is a great little coffee shop and Upper Crust Baking a nice place to get treats. Hooby's is a fun place to play indoor cornhole and taste some local brews. Berryessa Gap Winery and Brewery is right down the road and offers great beers, wine, outdoor seating and live music on the summer weekends. There is also Turkovich Family Wines with a tasting room right downtown!
Downtown Winters is just over a mile from the house. The local grocery store is about 2 miles. Lake Berryesa is a 15 minute drive to the west, the city of Vacaville is 15 minutes to the south, and the city of Davis is 30 minutes east.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
There is not much in the way of public transportation to and from Winters, so having a car is essential. Our pets like their calm environment so no other pets, kids, or visitors please.

Felt so at home
This was a 2 night sit for us. We left wishing we could have stayed longer Pai Pai, Karma, and Bamboo - All were easy to care for and had very sweet personalities. The kitties liked to chat and get scratched under their chins and by their tails. Pai Pai liked to hang out, adventure out on a walk, or try to convince you it was time for another treat :) Vicki and Dina - Welcoming hosts. We arrived about 30 minutes before their departure. They took us through the daily feeding and care routine and showed us all the household information. Their Welcome Guide was thorough and included recommendations for restaurants and things to do. Communication was via text and was easy, kind, and timely. Accommodations - It’s a new house not far from downtown Winters. The vibe/energy of this house was fantastic. It’s spacious, full of light, and so comfortable. Plenty of working space for remote workers, comfy seating inside and out to relax, read or watch tv. Outside - garden, 2 hummingbirds, and shaded area. Neighborhood - It’s a new, quiet neighborhood. The neighbors we saw while walking waved or said hello. This is a sit for people looking for terrific pets in a wonderful home. Great for remote workers, people looking for a relaxing location, small town preference, and those ok with driving to/from restaurants, grocery, things to do.

Dina and Vicki were fantastic hosts
Dina and Vicki were fantastic hosts. They welcomed me into their home and had everything I needed carefully put together in a binder. Pai Pai, Karma and Bamboo are easy going with awesome personalities. I fell in love with all of them. Communication was excellent and easy. The home is beautiful and in a lovely neighborhood. The front office was a perfect place for remote work. I would highly recommend this sit. Thank you for everything Dina and Vicki!

The nicest couple with the sweetest & easiest pets
Simply put… this is the nicest couple with the sweetest & easiest pets to care for… in a most relaxing home & neighborhood… near the mountain foothills outside of Sacramento. And for any question you can imagine… they answered in a well-organized & attractive binder! So it became an easy bike ride adventure into Winters… to get groceries, enjoy restaurants or meet friendly people in any of the the many parks. Plus, you can even pick up fresh grapefruit & oranges that have dropped from trees on the street curbs. Since I tend to work (write and photograph) when I travel, I always appreciate a peaceful setting to be able to focus and create. This was it…! Thank you, D & V.

My stay with Pai Pai, Bamboo and Karma was absolutely perfect 🙌🏼 I miss my furry foster family already 💔 Pai Pai is the absolute sweetest man, so easy to look after and such a good boy on walks, it was all entirely effortless. Bamboo and Karma are much like their dog brother, chill and sweet! Bamboo always made it clear to me when it was time for treats, and Karma just went with the flow! Dina and Vicki are two of the loveliest people, it was easy to communicate with them and they left helpful clear instructions. Their house is lovely, in a really nice new area with lovely local cafes and restaurants. I highly highly recommend this sit!

We had a great time sitting for Dina and Vicki. They have a lovely, clean, spacious home and are great hosts. All the instructions were very clear and easy to follow . They left a binder with hiking spots and restaurants nearby and even added the menus for the restaurants .Pai Pai, karma, and bamboo were such sweethearts they enjoy being around people and Pai Pai was even interested in the movie we were watching. You will love the city of winters with its great views and great food!

We had a great time house sitting for Vicki and Dina! Pai Pai is one of the sweetest, most mellow dogs we have ever met. He has a most lovely “happy dance”, especially when he knows he going for a walk! Momma cat Karma, enjoyed sitting with us on the couch. Her daughter, Bamboo, loved getting her kitty treats. It was very relaxing to hang out with them. Vicki and Dina were so welcoming. They not only provided us snacks on the counter and in the refrigerator, but placed fresh cut flowers throughout the house! Their home is immaculate, well-appointed and has everything a sitter could possibly need. The bedroom has a very comfortable king-sized bed and is located right next to a full-sized bathroom and has a nice office for sitters to use. Communications were easy and smooth. Vicki and Dina provided detailed pet and home care instructions verbally and with a very helpful “Welcome to Our Home Guide” that also included information about local attractions. Their home was a lovely place to stay. Winters is an adorable town, with a great selection of restaurants, farmer’s market and free concerts in the summer. The surrounding area has hiking trails, wineries, breweries, and even honey tasting. We loved this sit! Super sweet and easy to care for pets, amazing owners, and fun location. We would definitely sit for them again if given the opportunity. We highly recommend Vicki and Dina and their lovely pets!
