About this assignment
*Our confirmed sitter for March has a last minute conflict and must leave by March 22. We need a sitter from at least March 22 to March 30 but the sitter can have the entire sit starting on February 27.
The two small dogs will not be at the home during this sit, and a car will not be available.
Steve is from the US, Despina from Australia. We are both retired and we moved to Greece at the end of 2023. Our newly renovated 3 bedroom villa with swimming pool overlooks the Saronic Gulf and distant mountains of Corinth and the City of Athens. The property is in a rural seaside location called Amoni. There are 3 nearby beaches within a few minutes walk. Athens is about 1.5 hours away.
We share our home with 2 Chihuahuas that we've had from before we moved here, and a Greek Shepard that we adopted here he was a puppy. There are 2 outdoor enclosures for feral cats, chickens, a rabbit and guinea pigs, as well as small basins with turtles and a goldfish. All the animals aside from the dogs remain outdoors and require very little care.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Our Greek Shepard requires 1-2 daily walks depending on how hot it is, and his energy level. The two smaller dogs don't typically need walks just access to the patio a few times per day.
Feed the fish and the turtles, and make sure the chicken coop, rabbit and guinea pig cages are stocked with food and the auto-fill water bowls have water. The pool is almost fully automated, and may need to be skimmed and run the robot vacuum run once per week as well as take a look at the filter and the pH system. We will show you all of this it's quite easy.
There are some patio plants that may need watering a few times per week, the rest of the property is on an automatic irrigation system.
What are the good features of the property and location
Our property is in a rural, seaside location that tends to be rather quiet except during touristy season where the nearby AirBnbs tend to fill with tourists who enjoy exploring the 3 nearby beaches, 2 within easy walking distance. Nearby towns include Corinth and Nafpleon (the original Greece Capital) and many scenic areas including archaeological ruins and other interesting places to explore.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
We prefer house sitters who have a few references/reviews, and who are willing to do a video chat to discuss the details. We're looking for clean, caring responsible individuals who enjoy caring for animals. We're ok with couples or even families. Our car is available for your use if you're adequately licensed.
Can I bring my own pets?

Restrictions: Our dogs are friendly and even get along with cats! As long as yours are the same, no problem.

This is a dream petsit for those who love animals, nature and remote living! You definitely have to love all animals and plants to enjoy this sit as there are so many beautiful beings to look after💛 I enjoyed it so much to spend time with the three dogs, the many cats (and kittens!), chickens, rabbits, guinea-pigs and to look after the fish and turtles. A lot of responsibility but so rewarding! My constant companion was Buddy, a gentle big dog. I‘d definitely recommend to have some experience with larger dogs for this sit as Buddy requires some gentle but confident leadership - he is very playful and doesn’t know how big he his! This means he can be naughty sometimes but in essence he is very sweet, friendly and protective and listened to me very well. The two chihuahuas are super sweet to be around. The house and gardens are so beautiful, Steve and Deb put a lot of love into everything. They are both so friendly and caring people and also very trusting and easy to communicate with. I didn’t have a car (I was offered a car but don’t drive) but it wasn’t a problem as there are very friendly neighbours and Steve and Deb connected me with a friend who would take me to town. Even when Buddy had to go to the vet once there were neighbours to help. Other than that and to get food I didn’t have to go anywhere, the house has so many beautiful spaces and beaches are walking distance. Steve kindly picked me up and brought me back to a train station with a direct train to Athens. I definitely recommend this sit for those who love animals and living in a remote paradise! Life-changing for me ❤️ It made my summer remarkable! Full of emotions, experiences, and funny chores. It will stay in my heart forever. Steve and Despina are lovely people, open-minded, easygoing and bright. They even made sure to introduce me to people I could rely on, which helped me feel safe, welcomed and at ease. The animals are adorable. I never expected I could have so much fun chatting with funny chickens, cuddling lovely cats, and meeting a cute, brave kitten. Buddy was my main companion, a truly lovely creature! He can be a bit naughty and overly enthusiastic at times as he’s a young and sweet big boy ❤️ The sit was wonderful and full of beautiful moments — sunrise and sunset walks with Buddy, fun around the pool, beach days, and little trips exploring the area (I love Peloponnese). The house is comfortable and welcoming, with an outstanding view and a beautiful pool. Since three short-haired furry friends live there, their presence is part of everyday life, so if you’re sensitive to hair and dust, it’s good to be prepared. The location may feel a bit remote, which was perfect for me, offering a wonderful sense of relaxation and calmness. If you’re someone who loves constant social activity, it might feel a bit quiet, but for me, that was part of its charm. I’m grateful for the opportunity to meet Steve and Despina, and to take care of their beautiful home and lovely pets ❤️
