Alentejo farm house

About this assignment

I am looking for a reliable person to mind my house and animals during my work trip. Car required (if no own car we can discuss a solution).

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Feed the 4 cats, clean the cat litter box. Feed the chickens and lock them up at night. Heat the house with a wood stove.

What are the good features of the property and location

The house is isolated but not far from the village (15 min walking, 4 min by car). It is a beautiful area of the Alto Alentejo with many cork oaks, Olive trees etc. A couple of tourist destinations like Marvão and Castelo de Vide are close by (under 30 km). While the surroundings of the house still look a bit 'wild' and under construction, the inside of the house is cozy and filled with books and original art works. A good place for creative people enjoying seclusion.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Heating only with wood, requiring some physical fitness (bringing in wood from outside). There is a collapsed farm building on the property that may not be entered (danger!) until restoration works begin in spring.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.
