About this assignment
We hope to find a dependable & loving sitter to care for our beloved Baloo Bear. Baloo was chained up in a driveway and basically neglected the first 2 years of his life. Despite his rough start, he's a total love bug and very well trained. All he really wants is to be loved and play with his toys. The more time you can spend with him, the better.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
VERY IMPORTANT: Baloo is on a strict prescription diet due to allergies and GI issues. He cannot eat anything outside of his prescribed food. No exceptions.
You’ll be responsible for feeding, walking, and caring for Baloo daily. 2 feedings per day and 3 walks per day. Baloo is a large, strong dog, so comfort handling large breeds is important. Always walk him using the slip lead in a figure-eight configuration and clip the carabiner to his collar. While he is friendly, please keep him away from other dogs. He may fixate on loud motorcycles or squirrels, tell him “leave it” and keep moving.
What are the good features of the property and location
Conveniently located in Marina del Rey, we're a 10-15 min drive to LAX, and to the beach. Plenty of shops, restaurants, grocery/drug stores, parks all walkable distance.
Our modern & spacious townhouse is located in a quiet gated complex with a 24/7 security guard. Our freestanding patio home has no shared walls and a private outdoor patio with fireplace. There is a shared pool & hot tub and tennis courts and dedicated parking in the complex. Our home is approx 2100 sq. feet, 2 bedrooms with en suite baths upstairs (you will have access to the guest bedroom) with another full bath downstairs. HUGE kitchen, separate dining room, and comfortable living room with a 68" flat screen TV with premium cable channels Netflix, & Hulu, Prime, Apple TV and more. Washer and dryer upstairs. Your bedroom has a VERY comfortable queen size memory foam mattress.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
Best suited for someone who is home most of the day and not away for long stretches. Experience with large dogs is important, with bully breed experience a strong plus.
Baloo is on a strict prescription diet, so careful attention to feeding is critical, no exceptions. He also requires three walks per day. We’re looking for someone clean, respectful of the home, and comfortable with a no-shoes household.

Lisa was very communicative & clear with her directions. U can tell she loves Balloo alottttt & wants the best care for him. Her house is beautiful, safe + very clean. Unfortunately I had a last minute emergency that I had to travel for, so my co-sitter covered this one... he said that Balloo is a very sweet & well-behaved dog & he had a great time house and dog sitting there. It is definitely one of the most time-demanding sits, so just make sure your schedule can accommodate Balloo's needs & you can be home most of the time & not leave for more than 4 hours. Lisa’s communication was superb
Lisa’s communication was superb. She left detailed instructions for Baloo. She even left Vidio on how to put on the gentle leader. Lisa’s home is very clean and close to beach and restaurants. Lisa made us feel right as home and had use of all areas of the house. Beautiful kitchen in which to cook. It is a very safe neighborhood and lots of places to walk Baloo. Now to Baloo. Lisa calls him her gentle giant and in fact that is an understatement. He just hangs out I between walks he loves the snuggles and hugs. The more the better. He is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever cared for. If you get a chance to sit for Lisa do it. Great family and great dog. Thank you Lisa for allowing us to care for your house and Sweet Baloo.

I had the most wonderful experience sitting for Baloo! First of all, Lisa was absolutely wonderful with providing detailed instructions on sitting for Baloo, and I even received a sweet handwritten card from her upon my arrival. She and Gabi are incredibly kind and kept their place sparkling clean! Lisa and I every day giving updates with photos and videos of Baloo. There are some real gems in there. Baloo is not only photogenic, but incredibly smart and well-behaved. It's obvious Lisa and Gabi have put a lot of time and attention nurturing him to be the adorable, obedient dog that he is. I miss him already!

Our second stay with Baloo in Marina Del Ray was just as lovely as the first. Baloo welcomed us back with his tail wagging, and was as friendly as ever! We enjoyed spending quality time with our furry friend exploring new walking routes, playing fetch with his favorite toys, and getting cozy on the couch with him in the evening. Baloo is such a good boy, and we enjoyed every minute we spent with him. Lisa and Gabi were great again, too. As before, they responded promptly to any messages we sent, and we knew from our first experience we could count on them if we had any questions or concerns about Baloo or their home. We would love to spend more time with our sweet buddy! Happily, we would care for Baloo again anytime.

It was such a wonderful vacation
It was such a wonderful vacation! Lisa and Gabi are so warm, kind and welcoming, just wonderful people and great, attentive hosts. We arrived to an absolutely perfectly cleaned house, it was incredibly nice, met a very well-behaved dog Baloo. We were greeted very warmly, we had dinner together while having pleasant conversations, it is so great to get to know American culture closer and closer, my heart melts more and more, from such interesting and nice people that we meet. Their house is so calm and beautiful! Baloo is a big beautiful kind, playful and very well-behaved dog, we have never met such a dog before. He is so smart, loves when his belly is scratched, loves to play and kept us laughing all the time, a smile did not leave our faces all day. We recommend this house 1000%, such a wonderful experience!!!! Thank you Lisa and Gabi for your hospitality, we would love to meet again 🌺

Our stay with Baloo in Marina Del Ray was pure joy. An awesome friend, Baloo was a sweet, easy-going pitt-baby. He was incredibly well-behaved the entire stay. On leash, Baloo was a great walking dog; he conducted himself with the utmost class and poise. At home, Baloo was calm, quiet, and loving. Lisa and Gabi were lovely, too. They warmly welcomed us into their cozy home and kept in great contact with us during the entirety of our stay. Their instructions and requests were detailed and clear. We would certainly watch Baloo again. He was a fantastic companion.

Baloo really is as easy as they come
Baloo really is as easy as they come. When he’s indoors he could barely be more relaxed, and when he’s being walked he doesn’t appear to know how big and strong he is so he doesn’t pull. Something about him means an unusually high number of people stopped to greet him wherever I took him, and he responded excitedly and with a wagging tail to every one. I even took him on a road trip with a friend and her husky, and they just as quickly became good friends. Gabi and Lisa made him a pleasure to be with

Lisa & her hubby were super sweet hosts and so kind for our stay. Baloo is the most loving, sweet dog ever and you can't help but fall in love with him. Marina is a perfect place to be in between the beaches of St Monica and Manhattan and the home is beautiful. Highly recommend them if you get the chance to sit. :)

Lisa's house is gorgeous
Lisa's house is gorgeous, and it was perfectly decorated for Xmas. The pool and spas are really nice, and it's walking distance to shops and movie theatres. However, the real star is the delightful Baloo! A sweet cuddly roly-poly dear of a doggo. He's big and strong and looks fearsome, but is really beautiful silvery-taupe marshmallow. He's very well trained and walks very well on leash, right next to your leg, and goes in his crate easily and without fuss. He needs decent walks as he has lots of energy, and spend most of his time at home asleep and snorfling gently. He was a delight to be around! Lisa left a very detailed house and dog manual, and there's a video of how to put on his special lead. A very nice xmas staycation!

Boo! He was an absolute treat to petsit! Lisa was very welcoming and provided me with all of the information I needed for a comfortable stay. Her home is clean and tidy and in an excellent location for anyone looking to explore the best that the city has to offer. Boo Bear is the dream dog
Boo Bear is the dream dog! We absolutely love this sweet boy! Boo has some medical issues that will need attending to, you must be prepared to give him that extra special attention, he is so deserving of a sitter that has a compassionate heart and a commitment to making sure that he receives his medications, shots, and magnetic therapy on time and consistently. If you are that sitter, he will reward you with nothing but unconditional love! A true treat, we are so grateful for once again spending time with Boo!

Lisa and Gabi were such thoughtful and generous hosts! And of course, Boo was the most welcoming of all with all the happy tail wags and nuzzling I got. ;-) I can see why other people might be intimidated at first by this big bear of a dog, but he's gentle and loving. (Just watch your toes, he's also heavy!) Everything about this home was amazing!! It's all gorgeous and newly remodeled, the guest room is super cozy, the location is excellent, and the SUV was a dream, saving me a ton of time with commuting to a few meetings that weren't in the neighborhood. Wifi was excellent too - I produce videos for some of the work I do and the processing and uploading was done in record time! If you're looking to see the prettiest tourist spots in SF or get some work done from home, I highly recommend this sit! (Please give Boo a belly rub from me.)
