About this assignment

*This sit is for one person only.* I am looking for a responsible, trustworthy, and genuinely cat-loving individual to provide a stable and caring presence in my home for my 14 year old indoor-only cat and an outdoor-only cat. The ideal person will have experience with cats and provide daily updates/photos.

This is my first time using MindMyHouse, though I have used Trusted Housesitters multiple times and have had great experiences and all 5-star reviews. I can provide these upon request.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

I have two cats – Guacamole, my 14 year old indoor-only cat and Zorro, an outdoor-only cat.

Responsibilities:
* Feed both cats twice daily and give them fresh water
* Scooping litter and throwing away daily
* Be attentive to their wellbeing and notify me if there are any concerns
* Fluff up straw in Zorro's outdoor shelter and add more if very cold
* Heat up two Snuggle Safe heating discs every evening to put in the outdoor shelter
* Be respectful of home and belongings; condo will be cleaned before arrival
* Provide daily updates & photos
* Be reachable and responsive to messages during sit
* Be available for a pre-sit Zoom chat
* Give the kitties love and attention (Guacamole may hide at first but will eventually warm up)
* Ensuring that doors are closed as soon as you come inside so that Guacamole cannot get outside
* Setting the alarm when leaving

What are the good features of the property and location

My first-floor/street-level, one-bedroom condo is in a small, four-unit building, approximately 643 square feet, and is located in Trinidad, DC. Trinidad is a diverse, welcoming-to-all, single- and family-friendly neighborhood in Northeast DC. Capitol Hill and H Street NE, with bars, restaurants, and stores, are within walking distance. If you fancy a bit of a longer walk, the U.S. Capitol is a scenic 1.8 miles away. The National Mall, with the majority of Smithsonian museums and Washington Monument, starts at the Capitol.

There is no shortage of grocery stores in the area. Within a short distance, there are two Trader Joe's, two Safeways, Whole Foods, two Giants, Target, and an Aldi. (These are not within immediate walking distance but are 0.8-3 miles away.) There is also a Costco about 3.4 miles away. Eastern Market, which has great vendors on Saturdays and Sundays, is 1.7 miles away.

There is plenty of public transportation nearby with bus stops (WMATA) across the street and throughout the neighborhood. The closet metro station is Union Station on the red line, which is 1.6 miles away. Lyft, Uber, and Yellow Cab are widely used. If you have a car, there is plenty of street parking. There is also a Capital Bikeshare station one block away.

My condo is well-equipped with fast WiFi, smart TV with Netflix, HBO, Peacock, Hulu, and Prime, and an Alexa Echo Dot. The kitchen has a standard coffee maker as well as a Nespresso Vertuo, toaster, gas oven & stove, dishwasher, and microwave. I have all types of cookware. The bathroom has a bath and shower. There is also a stacked washer & dryer. Rooms in the condo are the living area, bedroom, kitchen, and small mudroom where my cat's food, water, and litter box are. The bedroom has a queen-sized bed.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

* There is a bus stop across the street, and the closest metro station (Union Station is 1.5 miles away - the bus goes there)
