About this assignment
Someone who is trustworthy, dependable, friendly, and who loves animals. My house is my sanctuary, so I want someone to enjoy it and take care of it, while giving the animals love and cuddles.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Feed the animals twice a day, check on the chickens, and give them lots of love and cuddles. We have a big yard so the dogs don't need to be walked. Everything else is automated, so no need to take care of the garden, etc. Just regular house chores like take out the trash for pick up once a week, etc.
What are the good features of the property and location
Great, quiet location, close to Downtown Lafayette and Walnut Creek for food/shops, Mount Diablo for hiking, and BART for access to Oakland and San Francisco. House is spacious and welcoming, with a pool and a hot tub. We have super fast internet. Great place to relax and work from if you need to. Families with older children welcome. EV plug available.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
We are about 30-45 minutes east of San Francisco. Although the city is accessible, you would need other travel to reach all the tourist destinations. We are in a quiet area near hiking, Mount Diablo, shopping/restaurants, and about 45 minutes south of wine country.

Staying at Jhon’s urban farm was an absolute joy from start to finish. The four big dogs—Tara, Oz, Riley, and Buffy—were simply amazing. Tara has the sweetest smile, Oz is full of love and playfulness, Riley is the classic lovable Golden Retriever who just goes with the flow, and Buffy, their wise oldie-but-goodie, kept up with the pack like a champ. They were all so well-behaved and affectionate—it was a privilege to care for them. The four cats took their time warming up to me, but by the day I was leaving, they were following me from room to room. It was such a sweet send-off. The chickens were the friendliest I’ve ever met—curious, gentle, and even let me pet them! They’ll happily eat lettuce right out of your hand and truly seem to be living their best lives in a coop that feels more like a mini-resort—complete with a swing and every comfort imaginable. The home itself is just as special. The outdoor living space is stunning, with a pool, hot tub, and beautiful flowering plants—truly a relaxing retreat. Inside, the home is beautifully decorated and clearly reflects their thoughtful, warm personalities. Everything was clean and welcoming. John’s communication was excellent, and the welcome letter was clear and thorough. I felt completely at ease the entire stay and would absolutely love to housesit here again. We highly recommend this house sit! Jhon was so clear with communications about the home and all of the pets, it was clear and easy to follow instructions. Their home is lovely, so clean and well organized, everything labeled, their backyard is gorgeous with a pool, hot tub, beautiful landscaping. The fur babies, wow! so well trained, so well behaved, at first we were a little nervous at the prospect of of caring for four dogs and four cats, but truly the pups were so welcoming and sweet, so well trained, not a single bark, they knew exactly what to do and where to go. They let my daughter lead them around, cuddle them and they always listened to her when she asked them to sit! The cats were shy at first but by the second night they wanted cuddles as well. Even after just two days of knowing them, we felt really sad saying goodbye to the pups, they had been so sweet and loving to our family. Jhon was always available for questions and made us feel very welcome! They have created such a loving home with their fur babies and we could feel that energy being in their home.

We had a wonderful stay in Walnut Creek courtesy of Jhon and his partner. The dogs have stolen our hearts and we are the willing slaves for the cats. The chickens were very easy care. Jhon’s home is clean and comfortable. Jhon is a clear communicator who ensured that we knew exactly how to care for each pet. His friendly and efficient check-ins were regular. He provided us with thoughtful suggestions for our stay and beyond which we appreciated so much. We recommend housesitting for Jhon and hope to do so again in future.

We had a lovely time taking care of Jhon and Mark's pets. The dogs are very well behaved, playful and loved attention. The cats also behaved and liked getting attention. Taking care of all the animals was very doable between the two of us. The house was clean and spacious. Fully equipped kitchen with all the appliances you could dream of. The neighbourhood felt safe. A car would be recommended you would definitely need a car to stay here. The house is just 45 minutes from San Francisco by train and close to Mt. Diablo, offering plenty of hiking options. We thoroughly enjoyed getting to know all the animals individually, and by the end, we were really sad to say goodbye. We were welcomed by Jhon and Mark before they left, and they kindly showed us around and provided us with all the necessary information, plus written instructions. Not to mention the very helpful videos we watched beforehand, which made feeding the cats and dogs easier. By the second day, we felt very comfortable, even with their different medications and supplements. Communication with Jhon was excellent throughout, and he also gave us plenty of recommendations for things to see and do around Walnut Creek. Would definitely recommend this sit for a couple and would love to come back again.

We had a great time with Jhon and Marks little farm. :) The house was clean and comfortable and they explained everything very well (and they wrote everything down for us!). The dogs are needy of love and totally cute. We loved cuddling with them a lot. The cats were low maintenence and cuddly, too. They have every household appliances you need. The communication with Jhon was really good, we like you both a lot! :) would recommend everyone this sit, especially when you loooove cuddle buddies.

This place is a MUST for any animal lovers
This place is a MUST for any animal lovers. The pets here are all so sweet with loving personalities. We all got along by the time I left. And I must say, I miss them a bit after leaving. All of the dogs and cats were really well trained, behaved, and followed directions quite easily. I would recommend this sit to someone who has a good amount of availability throughout the day. If I were to do this sit again, I would definitely have a second person with me to divide up the daily tasks and time spent with the animals. I appreciate that many of the tasks and chores in the house are automated to ease, however it still required an amount of work and effort that can quickly fill up the day. I would not recommend this sit to someone who can not be available for more than half of the day, is not good around dog loving energy (the dogs love getting their headscratches and follow you around), or have any physical health conditions. I did get sick for about half of this stay which made it difficult on days. My back was in major pain in the third to last day because of constant overutilization of my back bending for tasks. So make sure to learn properly form, or practice your squats. Jhon was extremely accommodating and understanding and offered to pay to have food/medicine sent to the house for me. He checked in with me regularly and was responsive. I only had two issues during my stay that was resolved. The first was that Xander took time to warm up to me and did not want to eat the first few days I was there. Thankfully Jhon got in contact with his neighbor to come support with this. Eventually Xander warmed up to me and all was okay. The second was that Buffy started to spit out her daily medication, so I had to figure out a work around to make sure she still had it properly. All in all, the listing is clear and concise. The animals here are a great fun bunch and Jhon is great communicator who is accommodating and generous. I loved using the pool and hot tub as well. Our experience petsitting there was nothing short of amazing. From the moment we arrived, we were impressed by the thorough attention to detail in the house. It was not only beautifully designed but also incredibly comfortable. Every room was immaculate, and the amenities provided everything we could possibly need. The pets we took care of were absolutely delightful and behaved wonderfully throughout our stay. We had a lot of fun with them, and it was a joy to look after such well-mannered animals. One of the highlights was the pool and hot tub, which we enjoyed every day. They were clean, well-maintained, and offered a perfect way to relax and unwind.

Had a great time at Jhon's! 4 dogs and 4 cats sounds like a lot but they were all very well behaved and made the sit very easy and straightforward. The dogs pretty much follow you to whatever room you go to, Tara especially has strong golden retriever energy. The cats mostly kept to themselves, but Giles would come cuddle in bed, and Anya becomes very affectionate if you approach her. There were specific instructions for individual animals when it came to feeding, but Jhon provided both a printed out matrix of who eats what, as well as a video demonstrating the routine which was super helpful (as well as videos for other things as well like how to use the litter contraption). Jhon was also very responsive through text if I had any questions during the sit. House was very nice too. Backyard had a great vibe and nice to place to lounge.

We loved spending time with these wonderful animals! Some of the sweetest and gentlest animals we have met on our travels. Jhon was my main contact and he was always available for questions and checking in. The house and processes are really well organized, and everything is well-stocked for the pets, which helped us feel supported during our time there. They are located just 5 minutes from downtown Walnut Creek, also with easy freeway access, but it feels away from it all at the house. Thanks for having us!

Jhon and Mark have a lovely, comfortable home with which they were very generous in sharing, including their master bedroom. Their instructions were very thorough including even video instructions on feeding the pets. The 4 dogs are so friendly and loving and respectful. The cats loving too. This sit was a wonderful experience! All of their dogs and cats had loving and inviting personalities that made their home so accommodating and welcoming.
