Settle at lakeside home in Mayo and be close to the sea

About this assignment

My main need is to petsit Archie my three and a half year old cocker spaniel if I'm on holidays, so you need to love dogs, and be gentle and kind hearted. Ideally have owned your own dog before, so you have experience. You need to be responsible for Archie and my home. He is an affectionate energetic dog, (was a rescue pup) but needs someone if I'm not there to have flexibility to work from home, he doesn't like to be alone, so if you go out, I'd prefer he goes with you. You will need a car. He is an excellent passenger, so doesn't mind waiting in the car, if there's need be. He was born with genetic sight issues, so you need to support him with putting on his leash in new areas, occasionally he bumps into things. He gets along independently very well on his own with walking most of the time. He likes other dogs, but they need a little introduction, loves his walks. I would like frequent communication with my petsitters to know how everything is going. If it works out I'd like the person to come back on repeat house pet sits.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

He needs either frequent short walks or approximately 40 minutes walk a day. He is fed twice. No meds required. Good off leash, but also good on leash. Keep few plants watered and clean up after yourself in the house. Empty bin after use.

What are the good features of the property and location

The house is originally a fishing & hunting lodge set on Lough Mask in co mayo. It is comfortably restored and has lots of character with outdoor garden patios, kitchen, dining room/office, sitting room with wood stove, and large bedroom. The lake is 5 minute walk, you can walk on a lovely quite road where I live surrounded by nature & farm animals. Or you can drive to the sea in Westport just 30 mins. You will need your own car. Local shop is 3km away. There is beautiful drives, mountain hikes, forest walks, big towns, and Galway city is only 45km away. It is a very good base for exploring. Big towns nearby include Ballinrobe 6km, Castlebar 25km, Westport 25km, Claremorris 25km, Ballina 50km, Achill Island 50km.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

You need to have own car, and be comfortable with Archie as a clingy dog, like to sit beside you on couch or bed. Be available for 2 weeks minimum or more. Ideally be available throughout the year.
