Rosie is adorable, once she has your heart, you'll possibly be as obsessed as me!

I am looking for a kind, patient, non-smoking individual/couple /small family (space for 2 or 3 children )who would enjoy my sweet, playful, sensitive Rosie. She is a gentle, loving soul and fits into my (not super energetic!)routine, so is very easy to look after. Not an early riser and content with one longish walk and playtime/training( is excellent at hide and seek!) She is, like many collies, anxious around traffic and since being attacked when younger, would rather not be approached by other dogs. She is great fun, playful, a bit bonkers, cheeky, affectionate, kind, very clever and funny. She is very eager to please, super sociable with humsns, loves children and generally very well behaved ( collies are clever do do try to push boundaries!) and knows lots of commands.
She loves playing and doing agility in the garden as well as playing by the river and fields.
She is fine to be left 2-3 hours alone, she'll just snooze, giving you time to explore but equally she's good company to take with you to most places.
The listing dates in May are changeable..up for suggestions!I'd be taking a short trip, at some point that month, to see grandson in Edinburgh..could potentially be just a starting point/good opportunity to see if you're happy with Rosie and vice versa and ! Am up for suggestions re any other times you could be available, as will always use the opportunity to visit family( with cats!)
The other dates listed are for trips abroad ( also to housesit!;)) so I'd need to be be sure a sitter was committed to those dates.
I'd ideally ( but not exclusively) like a regular sitter, if possible, so I can visit my little grandson more and so myself and Rosie can get to know you. Prior to the sit, you would be welcome to arrive early, so we can show you some of the walks nearby...and how to work the fire!;)
Alternatively, this could suit someone who lives locally and needs accomodation for their family to visit, or someone who has family locally and would like to visit..in either case, getting to know Rosie beforehand would be great, and I'd be up for paid dogwalks before the actual sit.
Following my instructions regarding keeping Rosie on a lead is vital. Walks are fun as there are plenty of open spaces nearby, within walking distance of the house, where she can go on a long lead to do her favourite things..paddling, digging and frisbee!
To treat our home with respect and leave it as you found it.
Someone who would be proactive should anything go wrong in the house ( unlikely!) I'd leave contact details of insurance and handy people!
I'd like regular updates on Rosie, pics of her having fun..:)but nothing onerous!
My cottage is cosy and comfortable. I have Netflix and lots of books!
The cottage has central heating, 1 double bedroom and one single/reading/yoga room, bathroom, kitchen and lounge with 1 sofa and a sofa bed, also with a fire. It has a very pretty, enclosed garden with lots of space to enjoy the sun. You may, depending on time of year, have use of the hot tub.
I have lovely, helpful , neighbours and friends nearby. There are walks to the river directly from the house and lots of lovely longer walks and beautiful villages nearby to discover. I am on the edge of both the Forest of Bowland and the Yorkshire Dales. Lancaster is a vibrant small city and Leeds a larger, amazing city with a lot going on. Both are reachable by train.
Bentham itself has cafes, 2 small supermarkets, pubs with live music, 3 charity shops and other stores. A really lovely community. It's a popular area with tourists but not overly so. A lovely place to chill. I feel like I am on holiday most of the time!
A car is not necessary as I am on the train line between Lancaster and Leeds.
Rosie should not be let off the lead and always wear her 'I need space' tabard. She can be reactive if dogs approach her. I'd need any potential sitter to be aware of her anxiety around dogs and avoid places with lots of dogs/ narrow paths- really not a problem around here!
Making sure she drinks a lot, water in kibble.
Obviously contacting the local vets( in the town) if need be.
I'd appreciate the sitter being energy conscious.
No overnight visitors unless cleared by me beforehand.
No, sorry.
