We're looking for an individual or a couple who love cats and are experienced at looking after them. It will be the first time we've gone away for 3 weeks, so although Arthur is an easygoing cat, being separated from us for so long will be new for him.
Feeding and caring for Arthur, our much loved 9 year old cat. He's an outdoor cat with a chip-activated cat flap, so there's no litter to deal with. Watering plants - probably just indoors at this time of year. Keeping the house clean and tidy.
A terraced house in a quiet street, with good bus links to Edinburgh's historic city centre (approx. 20 mins), and walkable to the trendy Newington district with pubs and cafes and beautiful Holyrood Park. Cosy, comfy house with secluded south-facing garden at the back. The terrace is a suntrap, so you might be able to sit out if the weather's nice.
Our leaving dates might vary very slightly from those shown, but only by a day or two - we'll have definite dates by the end of this week.
You definitely need to be a 'cat person' - understand their behaviour and enjoy spending time with them. Arthur is friendly in that typical slightly wary cat way, and you will probably need to win him round with patience at the start. He loves to hang out with humans, but sometimes at a safe distance. Sitting on laps is reserved for once he really trusts you. He is currently licking the fur off his belly and both we and the vet are drawing a blank as to why. He's not on medication for this - maybe you could try distracting him with a toy if you see him doing it.
Hopefully you're OK with a house that has a fair amount of our stuff in it. The kitchen is well equipped, but we don't have a dishwasher. Our TV only works as a monitor, so you'll need to bring your own device to connect to it via HDMI lead, and use your own TV subscriptions via the WiFi.
No, sorry.
