About this assignment

Hi there! I recently relocated back to St Pete from South Florida. I’m a remote worker who occasionally travels for work, and I’m looking for a kind, trustworthy pet sitter to care for my furry (and finned) family while I’m away. I share my quiet home in St Petersburg—just 15 minutes from downtown St. Pete—with a fun, loving mix of animals and one peaceful koi pond.

All of my animals are affectionate and enjoy company—especially women. They may take a little longer to warm up to men, but once they do, they’re very sweet. I’d love to find a sitter with a calm, caring energy and pet experience. If you're comfortable giving an injection, a pill once a day, keeping an eye on the pond water and playing nonstop tug, you'll do great.

I don’t need constant updates—just someone who can reply within a few hours if I check in and who’s genuinely happy spending time with animals. If you’re a respectful sitter who values a cozy home, animal companionship, and a peaceful setting, you’ll love staying here.

Looking forward to connecting with like-minded pet lovers! The arrival and departure dates can be flexible. I put the dates I will be away in the listing.

What responsibilities are required of the house sitter

Here’s who you’ll be spending time with:
- Chief is my 11-year-old cuddle bug and the only boy in the group. He’s sweet, loves treats, and is best friends with Luna, my dog. He gets daily insulin injections, morning and night.
- Renegade is a 10-year-old cat with big "queen of the house" energy. She’s independent, prefers to spend most of the day outdoors, and just needs a daily pill (which she takes fairly easily).
- Lucy (aka Lucifurr!) is 3 years old and loves head and neck pets. She lives up to her nickname with a dash of sass but is super sweet. She rarely leaves the house.
- Luna is my 5-year-old terrier mix. She's chill-energy, loves playing tug, and is very bonded with Chief.

And out back, there’s a koi fish living happily in a relaxing pond—just a quick top-up with hose water now and then keeps things perfect.

Luna loves to swim, but she is NOT allowed in the pond!

What are the good features of the property and location

My house is a 3/2 on a quiet street and 15 minutes to downtown St Petersburg, 15 minutes to the beach (Treasure Island) and 30 minutes to downtown Tampa. I have a nice fenced in backyard with a mango tree and pond which makes for a nice relaxing atmosphere. Sitters can stay in the guest bedroom and use the office area.

My home is non-smoking, open, and has a warm, laid-back vibe. The backyard pond and fountain create a peaceful outdoor space—perfect for morning coffee or evening unwinding. The high-speed internet and dedicated office setup (complete with adjustable stand up desk) also make it ideal for remote workers.

Home amenities include: Queen guest bed, guest bathroom with shower/tub combo with bathroom essentials, guest closet, high speed WIFI, dedicated workspace, electric stove, oven, microwave, toaster oven, kettle, fridge, freezer, dishwasher, blender, cooking basics (pots, pans, cutlery, glasses, oil, salt, pepper, spices), AC, heat, clothes washer, clothes dryer, iron, vacuum, mop, cleaning products, patio with outdoor dining area.

What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment

Please be comfortable giving an injection. I can provide a video to help if you need to see it being done. You also need to be ok giving a pill. The animals can stay home alone if needed, there is a flap out back that they go in and out of. The only thing is you must be home to give Chief his injections. He gets them 2 times a day, 12 hours apart.

Can I bring my own pets?

No, sorry.

I had an amazing stay

I had an amazing stay in St Pete with Meredith’s sweet animals! Everything was smooth & seamless, and I was able to meet Meredith before beginning the sit so she could show me where everything was and introduce me to her fur babies. Communication was great, and I had everything I needed at the house for a safe and comfortable stay. The animals were wonderful company. All the kitties enjoyed being around me and loved attention and head scratches/being brushed. Chief needs daily insulin injections, which were super easy - he didn’t even notice. Her home in St Pete was the perfect location - close to downtown, beaches, and so many parks. There is so much to do in the area! Her house is located in a nice neighborhood perfect for walking her sweet dog, Luna. I enjoyed taking her to a couple of parks nearby, too. This really was the perfect stay and I would be more than happy to come back in the future if I’m able to!! ❤❤

It was a joy to look after them all

Meredith had a lovely home with a super comfy bed and own bathroom for the sitters. There was parking on site. All communications were quick and full of information so there were no surprises when we arrived other than all the love and hugs we were greeted with from Luna her dog. The cats, Renegade , Chief and Lucifurr were adorable, each with their own personality and incredibly easy to look after. They are really affectionate cats who love being brushed and took their medication well. We had to inject Chief twice a day with his insulin and he really didn 't even notice making it incredibly easy. It was a joy to look after them all and we would love to sit for Meredith again if we ever got the chance and were back in the USA.

Wonderful owner with great communication

She also recommended some fantastic restaurants, which we really enjoyed. She has three cats, all with totally different personalities. Chief is the only boy—very calm and chill. He’s diabetic and needs insulin shots twice a day, but it wasn’t hard at all. He’s always hungry and loves sneaking the other cats’ food lol. Lucy is such a baby—so cute 💕. She loves playing with toys and belly rubs. Renegade is a black cat and a true loner. She’s always out exploring the neighborhood and comes home at night when she’s hungry. I worried at first, but she always comes back—such a smart cat. The house location is perfect—very clean and cozy. The beach and downtown St. Petersburg are both about 15 minutes away. We even saw dolphins swimming! Such a beautiful city. Highly recommend.

This is a great pet sit

This is a great pet sit. Meredith is a fantastic host and all the pets are wonderful. Meredith and I agreed on the sit about one month in advance. We did an initial video call, then we kept in touch leading up to my arrival. She sent a video showing how to give Chief' s insulin injection and also left more detailed instructions. Meredith was flexible about my arrival and departure times. She even let me stay one extra night when she returned, which was great for us to chat and go over the sit details. Thank you! All four pets have slightly different feeding/supplements/meds routines. But everything is quick and easy, including Chief' s insulin injections. Meredith wrote all the details down clearly. So it' s really just a matter of paying attention to who gets what & when. The full morning routine took me about 30 minutes in total. The evening routine is quicker. All three cats- Chief, Lucy and Renegade- are wonderful, friendly kitties who love to get pet and given attention. Renegade is a bit less affectionate and can ' complain ' a bit if you pick her up or pet her too much, but she never gets aggressive. She does like to stay outside and can be hard to get in at night time. It seems to work best to get her in well before you want to go to bed. Luna is a big gentle, slightly shy love-bug. She took to me immediately, which was very nice and helpful. She loves playing tug with her toys and super-loves going in a car and going for walks. I took her out twice a day for about 30 minutes, usually once in the neighborhood and once in my car to Walter Fuller Park, an 8-minute drive. That park is really beautiful, with a small lake, lots of shady trees and plenty of squirrels for Luna to try chasing (she stays on the leash, so chance of catching any). Luna behaved very well around other people and dogs. Meredith' s house is very comfortable, with great kitchen, hot strong shower, firm bed, Prime Video and a lovely back garden with pond & small waterfall. The outdoor patio is a wonderful place to sit, eat and relax in the beautiful Florida weather. All in all a great pet sit! Thanks Meredith!
