About this assignment
We love to travel (but can’t always take the dog) and would love to have someone kind and trustworthy look after our corgi during that time! It's a great opportunity to explore some of Belgium as well! We're looking for someone kind and patient who loves animals.
What responsibilities are required of the house sitter
Looking after our corgi, Bilbo (feeding, walking, playing), keeping the home tidy and updated (taking out trash, etc.), having a nice time in our tiny village!
What are the good features of the property and location
We live in a 1 bedroom flat in a very quiet and nice area. The neighborhood is very safe for walking around.
You will have full use of our apartment. We have a king-sized bed, as well as a sofa bed in the living room. Our kitchen is fully-functional with any appliance you might need. We have Wi-Fi, a television with streaming services, a PS4, and a Nintendo Switch- you are free to use them! There are trash/recycling bins in our outdoor storage, and we have our own washing machine and drying racks inside the apartment itself.
Our place is a 15-minute walk to the nearest train station (Wezemaal Station) which can take you various places in the area, but we also have a bus stop 5 minutes from us as well. The closest large city is Leuven, a fun little university town with great architecture, diverse food options, and good vibes. We're about an hour on transit from Brussels city center and an hour and a half from BRU airport.
What does the house sitter need to consider before applying for this assignment
Bilbo is a bit of a character, but very easy to get along with from the beginning. He has some lovable quirks. Though we encourage you to explore, obviously Bilbo should be the priority. We live in an apartment building with Flemish neighbors (please no parties or large groups), Belgium's weather isn't always the best (lots of rain and wind), we don't live in a large city (we have all that you need to survive, but don't expect tons of things to do in the village itself).

Incredibly kind
Julia and William were incredibly kind from the very beginning. They asked us if we needed to arrive a day earlier or leave a day later to make things more comfortable for us. They also showed us around the town and made their home feel like our own. Communication with them was excellent. As for Wezemaal, it truly exceeded our expectations, a very quiet, super safe town, and without a doubt an unforgettable sense of peace. We really enjoyed walking through its streets and parks. It is very well connected to the city of Leuven and it is easy to get to Brussels. In our case, we took care of Bilbo, a loving and sweet grumpy dog 😁. He makes your days much more fun and definitely fills them with love. He is an excellent companion to explore all of Wezemaal and its parks. He is a very well-behaved dog and loves cuddles (it may seem like he’s growling when you pet him, but that’s just his way of expressing satisfaction 😅). He is also, without a doubt, a great movie buddy ,he always lies next to you on the couch. All that’s left for us is to say thank you. Amazing
We were welcomed by Julia and Will with an offer to pick us up from the train station. They graciously opened up their home to us. They gave us a thorough tour of their home upon arrival making everything available to us. They put an extra special effort into decorating and making the house cozy and festive for the holidays! Wezemaal is a small Belgian town that has everything you need for an enjoyable stay including easy access to public transit, local bars, restaurants, grocery stores and amazing walking trails.

I had such a sweet time
I had such a sweet time with Bilbo during my short stay. He’s a bit reserved at first, but quickly showed me how much he enjoys his ball games and especially my little massage sessions, which he absolutely loved. He was very easy to care for and a joy to walk, always making our time together smooth and relaxed. Communication with his humans was excellent, and I felt very welcome in their peaceful neighborhood, with the beautiful forest nearby for our walks. I would happily return for another sit with Bilbo and highly recommend this lovely experience.

We really enjoyed our time
We really enjoyed our time in Wezelmaal. Julia and Will were kind enough to pick us up from the train station and take us there on our way back. The house has everything you need to make your stay comfortable. We petsitted Bilbo since his brother Thorin was not there (yes, welcome to the Lord of The Rings family 😀). Bilbo is such a cute baby and he loves to play fetch. But also loves to stay with you on the couch. He reacts well on commands so taking care of him was really enjoyable.

Felt right at home
Julia and Will were so kind and I felt right at home. Thorin is so well behaved and absolutely adorable. The apartment itself is beautiful and full of life. Its also located about an hour from Brussels and 30 minutes from Leuven to go exploring. It was a great sit and I would recommend it to anyone! You would be well served learning Dutch or French to visit though as English is not the primary language.

I had a fantastic time
I had a fantastic time hanging out with Bilbo! Julia was very welcoming and went over everything with me before she left. Anytime I needed to communicate with her she was very active in responding to messages. Julia was in the process of moving but I still had everything I could have needed in the apartment. The neighbourhood was nice and peaceful yet still well connected to the city. Bilbo was such a lovable ball of energy. He was a bit unsure at first but we quickly became best friends. I really enjoyed our walks and hanging out on the couch with him. It was such a joy to be trusted with him!

We had a wonderful time
We had a wonderful time looking after these adorable pups. Bilbo and Thorin were a joy to care for. Thorin just loves to cuddle up on the sofa with you; he’s the sweetest boy you’ll ever meet. Bilbo, on the other hand, is full of energy and just wants to play ball ALL the time—like an energetic 8-year-old with ADHD that follows u everywhere to bond with you. The apartment is in a friendly neighborhood, with two parks just a 3-minute walk away. There’s also a bus station with direct routes to Cologne right next to it, and a supermarket nearby. William and Julia were very responsive and kind to us. We highly recommend this sit and already miss those good boys a lot!

Friendly and easygoing
We had a lovely time with Bilbo and Thorin! They are very sweet boys and loved snuggling up next to us and going down to the park to play fetch. Had such a wonderful time
I had such a wonderful time with the boys. Bilbo and Thorin are easy to take care of. They love to go for walks. Just take a bit of care, they like to eat stuff off the street (poop etc.). The apartment was comfortable, quiet, and in such a beautiful neighborhood.There are two beautiful parks where you can explore with the boys. Across the street , a supermarket where you can get everything you need. The bus is also right there. Easy to get into inner city Köln. Julia and William were very responsive. I highly recommend visiting the Chocolate Museum, and if you like art, Museum Ludwig in Köln. William was so kind to drive me to the train station on the morning I had to leave. Thanks again !!!

Highly recommended
Julia and Will are very experienced with house sitters and had everything perfectly prepared for our stay. They were also totally relaxed. Their flat had everything we needed and we had a very good time there. The two boys, Bilbo and Thorin, are totally different from each other, but they are both absolutely adorable. Thorin is probably the cuddliest dog we have ever met. All he really wants to do is lie as close to you as possible and be cuddled incessantly. Bilbo, on the other hand, is very active and prefers to play a lot, but in the end, he ended up cuddling up on the sofa with us. Both dogs are very well behaved and listen well to their commands. They also behave very well outside on the lead. We quickly grew fond of them and already miss them terribly. All in all, we can only recommend housesitting with Julia and Will.

We had an excellent stay
We had an excellent stay at Julia and Wills place. Unfortunately both Thorin and Bilbo were very sick when we arrived so Will took them both with him. We hear they are both doing better so we are very glad to hear this. Whilst it was sad for us not to have the doggies around we were very appreciative that Julia and Will still allowed us to stay at their place. Their home was very comfortable and we felt welcome. Location was great too. We would love to come back to sit for Thorin and Bilbo in the future - we did meet them both briefly and they both seem lovely!

Highly recommend
The 2 pups were really easy going as were their owners. We really felt welcome on arrival. Bilbo had an emergency vet visit, which was no stress because Julia arranged everything. I would highly recommend this sit to anyone, we had a wonderful time!

Charming little Corgis
Bilbo and Thoren are such charming little dogs with two very different characters. Bilbo wants to play aaaall the time, while Thoren wants to snuggle up on the sofa and get as many cuddles as he can. They both walk very well on their leads and are well behaved in the park (if Bilbo decides to suddenly lie down and not get up, just exclaim a very excited "C'mon then! C'mon!" and he'll soon be up and running because he doesn't want to miss out on anything). The flat is cosy and well-equipped (even a kettle, which isn't always the case in Germany), with plenty of TV viewing options and a very large, comfy bed. A bus stop into the city centre is a minute's walk away, where there's plenty to do and see (look out for the many discount outlets) but the local neighbourhood is also very pleasant, if you fancy a stroll, with or without two adorable Corgis.
